This is truly... Awful.
I'm only finishing the first in this series because of my book goal for the year. I genuinely slept through about 10 minutes and missed nothing.

I love the aura of this story. Gray, cloudy, dreary.

It has alot of drama, but i can admit it had some beautiful moments with the 2nd male lead , It would have been alot better if we got more romantic moments. Its to immerse on the plot than the romance side

** spoiler alert ** I really enjoyed reading the book even though the beginning kind of set me off. I really liked the overall concept of Luce being a „badgirl“ who needed to be sent to a special school, but the social interaction with Daniel is horrible. I can’t believe how naive Luce is gor thinking the way Daniel treated her is fine in any way. He showed her the cold shoulder and is overall horrible to her and she is like „OMG he is so perfect!“ Luckily it had a enormous plot twist. The end was rushed and very unexpected, but pretty pleasing to read and I read the last hundred pages in a very short amount of time. I wasn’t really touched by Pen’s death either. It felt surreal and maybe I wasn’t in the mood for it. Overall I would recommend reading it but only if you’re into mean love stories.

don't remember it well but I know I liked it :) I think if I reread and then continued to the second, I could really enjoy it even more!

i cant believe i lost one WHOLE day reading this sh*t thinking it was good and then i thought about it and totally HATED IT

Too plain.. Too predictable -___________-'

** spoiler alert ** This is a review of a rework. Never got around to posting it. The first time I read Fallen, it was okay. Having to read it again makes me hate it. It makes me wonder how this book was so successful. When Lucy encounters Daniel for the first time, he flips her off. In the following days, he ignored her, rejected her, accused her of stalking him, ditched her, suggested that she was annoying, and so on. GIRL, GET A HINT! It’s obvious that he doesn’t like you! The only thing mysterious in this book is why they fall in love or want anything to do with each other. Let me rethink that. They ARE meant to be together. Both of them are brats. Nobody else would want them. Obsessively stalking him, she seeks him out repeatedly against all odds. What does she do when he tells her the truth? She runs away from the situation. Yes, that’s right. As a result, her stupid mind can’t handle information like a big fucking pansy. It’s clear that she’s a useless idiot, and he’s a selfish, moronic asshole. There must be true love between them. The way Daniel treats Luce is disgusting. In accepting Daniel’s treatment of her, Luce internalizes it, agonizes over it, and still seeks him. Luce stands up to Daniel ONE FUCKING TIME and tells him not to treat her that way. He kisses her (just to shut her up) after which she stopped requesting that he treat her as an adult and as an equal, and he just continued to mutter cryptic things without explaining them since her puny female mind would never understand them. The author does not know of angels. As well as the Bible. Religion. She shows no understanding of angels, their actual function, or how they differ from humans. In this book, the relationship is so unbalanced. There is so much information Daniel never gives her because she needs to trust him, and her fragile mind cannot handle it. Second, their relationship is power imbalanced. The book almost opposes feminism. The only way to make a boy love you is to accept his treatment and endure his scorn and derision. This is supposed to be romantic. It’s supposed to be a genuine love story. Would I like to continue this series? A rough outline of Torment has already been written. The review is just about finished. All I have to do is reread the book.

I read this in high school and I honestly can't remember a single thing about it, so I'd give it a 2 but I do remember liking it when I did read it so it gets a 3.

u can tell exactly when this was written bc its 100% a product of its time but it was still fun n stupid n enjoyable to read :)

Romantic, mysterious, exciting. A total page-turner. This book was very much unpredictable all the way through the book. It remained mysterious until the end and still does. I really can't wait to read the next book in the series

Did I hate it? No. Did I like it? Also no. Luce is a very one dimensional character and is just all together useless. There were so many parts where I was dying for her to do/say anything to stand up for herself but she didn’t. Instead she spent all of her inner dialogue wondering what Daniel was thinking about her and then crying about it. If I didn’t already know the author was female, I’d have guessed she was a man because only a man could reasonably write a female character as stupid as Luce. How are you a woman and think any woman would truly have the thought process that she does? Or put up with the disrespect and, honestly, just gross behavior the other characters put forward? Also, what was the conflict of this story? The entire book was literally just Luce and Penn stalking the shit out of Daniel. Oh, also her weird relationship with both Cam and Daniel. But there was no main conflict, Sophia didn’t even become a problem until the very end. I like the idea of the story.. but it was poorly executed.

WORST BOOK I'VE EVER READ. The writing is horrible.

1 star. 0 if possible. A few months ago, I rated this book 3.5 stars. Lmao, why? I was totally insane. I started this saga because I saw the movie on Netflix, and it's as bad as the book itself. Although, the book is worse. Brace yourselves, folks, the good stuff is coming. Lucinda, Luce, Price (we'll call her Mary Sue) is an ordinary human, unique and different from the rest. Luce has been through a lot: she lost her crush in an accident and she was saved. Luce thinks she sees shadows that are either going to attack her or kill her; it makes no difference either way. Her parents think she's crazy (basically), so they send her to a reform school/school called Cross and Sword, which happens to be crawling with angels, demons, and regular, mediocre humans. On her first day of school, Luce realizes that the school is not as the brochure indicated to her parents, and do they care? No, because they practically want to get rid of her. The infrastructure of the place sucks and is about to come crashing down on them, or so Luce describes it. The chance of the first day is that our Mary Sue meets the infamously handsome Daniel Grigori. He's tall, blond, violet-eyed and looks like the typical dream guy we all crave, right?. And, the first thing Daniel does when he sees Luce is show her the middle finger, even though she doesn't know him and has absolutely no idea who the hot guy who offended her is. Okay, let's get down to business. Plot. What plot? There's nothing here but Lucinda complaining about her pathetic existence and the regular harassment she does to the mysterious and different Daniel. Lucinda doesn't know why she is attracted to this intriguing boy who, oh gods, is not like the rest. Lucinda has to hide the truth about Sword and Cross from her parents because she doesn't want them to worry about her. Writing. It's terrible. Some of the word choice is terrible. There are tons of errors and it makes me wonder about something: how did this book pass the publisher's review? Probably, the editor was distracted trying not to cry about how tedious and boring this book is. Characters. Lucinda is Bella 2.0 and lacks personality, self-respect and self-love. She's a freaking stalker and doesn't understand when she's told to stay away from Daniel, even when he warns her himself. She's basically begging him for his attention and follows him everywhere, even when they "casually" meet in the same place. She's demented, "in love" with him, but it's an obsession, it's so bad that it leads her to look up his grade record to know more about him. Daniel is one of the biggest assholes I've ever met in books. He's Edward 2.0, but this guy is a hell of a lot older. He's a fallen angel who didn't take sides and is one of the good guys. He's always been in love with Luce and every time he kisses her, he watches her die because that's his curse for not choosing a side: he falls in love every sixteen years with the same person and watches her die. This guy is not 100 years old, but over 2000 and Lucinda is 17. Am I the only one who finds this gross? Cam is a filler character, obviously and is Jacob 2.0. and is supposed to be part of the Lucinda-Daniel-Cam love triangle. However, we know from the start that Lucinda and Daniel are endgame, because it's a fate thing. Daniel has been with her since ancient times and it's true love. Lies. Pathetic. Lucinda, like Bella, realizes the truth: that Daniel is a fallen angel and the love of her life. But she doesn't act like she's having a hard time processing this information that has to change her life completely. She just assumes it and is fine with that, all because she's obsessed with Daniel and something finally makes sense in her tiny life. Penn, Todd, Arriane, Gabbe, Roland and the others here are pure filler. They serve neither as supporting characters, nor as outsiders. The book might as well have been just Daniel and Lucinda in an empty world, and no one would have noticed. There is no villain as such. Miss Sofia just wants Luce dead so Daniel will finally choose sides, but why kill her when she will reincarnate again? This time, and it's funny, Lucinda isn't baptized, so if she's killed, the cycle will be broken and Daniel will never see her again. Oh, gods, I would have paid good Monopoly money to see Daniel's reaction if he saw Luce die. Anyway, I hated everything about this book and the way they normalize and romanticize stalking, mistreatment by the "hero" and how little, if any, personality all the characters in this book have. But, hey, the laughs were not lacking. I felt no empathy for any character. I was laughing my ass off because everyone here is stupid. Oh, gods, how this could be a bestseller? The angel-and-demons plot could have been better developed by people who write fanfiction. Oh, and wait for the second, it gets better on laughter and worst on the plot.

I was absolutely in love with this story! My friend had read it and had handed it to me the second she finished it it, saying that I had to read it. At first, I was hesitant because it seemed so dark and not something that I would want to read, but after reading it I was in love. I breezed through the next two and impatiently waited for the next, and final, book to come out and literally jumped up and down while screaming in joy when it finally appeared on the shelves of Barnes&Nobel. One of the best books I've read!

I tell myself that if I've read a hundred pages of a book and feel nothing then I refuse to continue reading. Sad to say this is one of those books. 150 pages later and all I do is find Luce to be unbelievably annoying. I'll give this a try again next time, but for now.. No.

Plot:4/5 Pacing: 4/5 Characters: 4/5 Overall:4/5 This was one I wanted to read when I was younger and never got around too. I'm fairly upset that I didn't pick it up until now. Although the ending seen between Cam and Daniel left me confused I really enjoyed the build up to the end reveal. I'm excited to pick up the next novel in the series.

I really loved the plot of this book. It seemed so unique and the paranormal wasn’t overdone. I thought that this book had a lot of potential and for the most part it followed through. There were some scenes in this book that were very difficult to read because they almost hard too much drama, or the scene was very confusing. I did like how the book played out and how it ended. I thought that this book was a great start to the series. Luce was an interesting character just because of her background and past. I wasn’t totally sure what to think of her since she was going to a reform school and was involved with someone’s death. Yet as the book advances in the plot I got more involved with the characters and really appreciated how each character was put together. I really did end up liking Luce and felt that she had some amazing qualities that really made the book good and made it fun to read. Daniel is definitely a mysterious contradiction in this book. His emotions swung back and forth so much that I was never totally certain of his next words or action. I did like his character because I enjoyed his interactions with Luce and how he affected her. When his purpose came to light I was shocked and I loved it. I felt that he added just the right amount of romance to this book to make it interesting. All in all this book was a very fun read and I did enjoy most of the series. I definitely would recommend this book to someone looking for a good series to read.

The book was completely captivating. It was a long time I hadn't read any book with such minute and sensitive twist and I totally luv love trags that the story had a hint of. Plus the dark, cold nature and surroundings of the story were great.
