Powerless wasn’t really my cup of tea but i still went and gave this one  a go ,, i love how it all centered around kai and paedyn. What i found it lacking tho is plot-wise. Nothing really happened until the last few chapters when things started getting reviled and some action happening. It felt more like a filler episode preparing for the next book.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster and I absolutely loved it. The yearning, the pool, the poppy field. It made me so sad when she was finally felt like she fit in Dor and was making good money off of fighting, then she got dragged right back home. Then the book by the fire, that was such a good twist and set up for the last book. For this book though, I just feel like it was a little underdeveloped like they never explained how Kai and Paedyn got kidnapped without Lenny or the many other people in there noticing. I also hate that we don't hear more about what Kai thinks about the group with only a percentage of power, or how he feels about being held captive by Lenny's group and if he had a plan to escape. We also never hear about the people with only a percentage of power again. I feel like that could have been a way bigger plot point than it was. Overall though I binged this book, I just think the writing could have been more complex.

I don’t even know how to review this one bc technically it has some flaws like the repetition of some scenes and quotes (like Kai saying the word “freckles” more than I can count) but I genuinely love the characters so I feel like I'll love anything Lauren writes about them 🤷🏻‍♀️

I loved how they got to know each other more deeply during the time they spent together and maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I loved the ending of the book (super predictable btw), I feel like this will add more tension in book 3 and honestly I still can't hate Kitt I kinda love him 🫣 The cat and mouse dynamic was one of the things I liked most but I thought the book focused only on that, they do the exact same thing from the moment Kai finds her until the moment they arrive at Ilya.

Anyway, this book was more focused on the romance and personal development of Paedyn and Kai than on the political part itself. Even though I love when that happens, in this specific case I wish it had been more balanced.

Adding some questions I had after the end:

1. What's Kitt's plan? I understand that the book needed a cliffhanger but it made zero sense what he did (again: I'm not complaining, I liked that part) but how did he decide that marrying the person his kingdom hates the most is a good idea? I wish we had seen at least a little of his plan;
2. Ok the Resistance is over, and….??? There’s clearly a lack of information here;
3. Where’s Mak? I can't believe he was introduced to us just to be only Adena's love interest.
