This book was always going to perform better in my books (ha-ha) given its concept (even down to the heroine's birthday date) and that I have now had a chance to get used to Gilmore's writing style and her - to refine it slightly. Still felt a little bit flat and just... insulting to the intelligence of the reader. The bit where a book seller says she does not understand why they make kids in school read "Lord of the Flies" or "The Scarlet Letter" I think actually tells you everything you need to know here.

This book was literal serotonin in paperback form. Cinnamon Bun Bookstore made me feel so ridiculously content, like I was wrapped in a fluffy blanket with a hot chocolate while someone played a rom-com on loop in the background. The vibes were pure warm and fuzzy, and honestly? It had me daydreaming about starring in my own little love story ASAP.

And let’s not skip over the tension—because wow. The spicy parts?? Chef’s kiss. Laurie Gilmore really knew what she was doing there. It was funny, sweet, and had just enough heat to make me blush at inopportune times. 10/10 would recommend if you want to giggle, swoon, and maybe kick your feet a little too hard while reading.

i finished this in 3 hrs, love a fast read that’s actually entertaining bc the first one was actual shit. the book store and clues are so cute but the miscommunication was so annoying like… yall are grown

the couple and smut was better but the miscommunication and constantly repeating their life problem (yes they just have one problem in their life) as if the reader forgot the last time they read it is mad annoying AND THE CONSTANT WINKING NO ONE WINKS THAT MUCH

Cute story!  As cute as the book cover.   Liked this one better than the Pumpkin Spice Cafe. Not too much drama before the  happily ever after part. I enjoyed Noah and Hazel!

Picking up these books when you’re in the right mood is absolutely vital I swear. Once you’ve finished reading two books you’ve DNF’ed or a couple heavy classics or fiction, pick up one of these books and I swear to God you’ll love them. This time we follow Hazel; the cozy kind of girl who’s a book reading pumpkin spice latte cinnamon bun eating page annotating young women who’s got a little emotional baggage of lack of self love and embarrassment. She’s clearly not been handled the best in the past, but Party Boy, free spirit cute fisherman Noah shows up and he changes her life for the better. It’s so obvious he has a thing for her, and as they embark on their mini treasure hunt journey, they for closer and fall in love. What I love about these books is the dialogue is so real and isn’t forced at all, there isn’t a breaking act and then a resolution just to make the book a bit more interesting, and that the communication is perfect. They do hide their feelings, but it isn’t handled where they leave each other, and it isn’t left for long until they communicate properly. Love this series. Will be sad when it ends, although I cannot wait for the third book.
