This is my second time reading The Red Files, and I'm still impressed. I love everything about The Red Files. The mystery part of the story is absorbing. Technology, politics, and the right to privacy are dangerous when mixed and should not be taken lightly by the masses. The well-paced romantic relationship between Catherine "Caustic Queen" Ayers and Lauren "Won't Back Down" King is a tad bit predictable, but their overall chemistry is sweet, and their banter is entertaining.

Reread Sep 07 2018- Almost 2 years later and still 5 Stars make that 5+ Stars. I reread because I am planning to read the sequel Under Your Skin next. I try to reread the previous book if it’s been a while in between books. Who am I kidding, I’d re-read if it’s been more than a few months.

5 stars. Late to the party! But I'm so glad I finally got around to reading it. I first picked it up after reading Requiem for Immortals. Which was a mistake because they are very different books especially in tone, but both excellently written. I read a chapter and I couldn't get into it plus I got distracted by other glittery new books. 
I finally read it - wow. Loved it - the MCs and the minor characters are so well written. The dialog is fabulous. I've always wanted to be as sharp and as quick as Catherine. But to be that way you have to be fearless like Catherine, until Lauren throws her off. Is it a romance with a mystery? Or a mystery with a romance? I think it is both. Winter is able to balance both and the pacing is perfect. I can't wait for Winter's next novel.

I don't know what I was expecting but I loved this book. It was paced really well and just got better as I got deeper into the story. I will admit there were times when Ayers caustic comments made my chest tighten in sympathetic pain for King but their dynamic was enthralling.

It took me a few more pages than usual to get into the story but when I did, I went all in. And loved it.
