I AM SO INCREDIBLY REGRETTING READING THESE BOOKS BEFORE NINE CAME OUT. I AM LITERALLY GOING TO S C R E A M *yeets kindle at wall*

Time to take a stand.
Even if it risked everything.
And maybe if they worked together-and were really, really lucky..
This would be their new legacy.
Saving Keefe from his.
Okay, I survived but boy do I ever have questions! This series may be long but I could read literally anything these characters do and have an amazing time doing it.
My body is ready for the next book.
5/5 ⭐

So the last books I gave 5 stars and I was expecting for this to be 5 stars too, but this book was KILLING ME... in ways that were fine and not fine. First of all, I really liked most of this book. I love how detailed every little plot point is and how every challenge was more personal to Sophie. The stakes definitely rose so much more and I loved it! The awkward romance going on was also really gripping! Now, what I didn't like was how Sophie's emotions controlled her so much.. especially during a very particular part that I'm not going to mention because I don't want to spoil anything. What got me through was constantly reminding myself that she's a15 year old girl who is way too good at causing drama and making poor decisions. But at the same time, I expected better of her for how smart, logical, and fairly understanding she is of other people's circumstances. This book she was far from that. I've liked Sophie in the other books but this one...I don't know what to think of her now. I only hope she'll redeem herself in the next book. It sounds like I should have given this book a lower rating, but I was still so captivated reading this one like the others, and for that (and loving the other characters and world so much), I'll give it 4 stars. Though this one got me frustrated, I'm still excited for the next book.

a middlegrade that romanticizes abuse ... i have truly seen it all. we seriously got 7 books of fun and then as soon as sophie starts dating, he says “your body my choice” and we’re supposed to like him. why does every author let consent and kindness magically disappear when a friend becomes a boyfriend? and why are we telling children this is desirable 🤢 if a man said that to you irl you would run ,,, but shannon thinks it’s hot when it happens to little girls?? nope. idk why it’s so crazy to be against abuse as a reader but unless this man dies i am very done with this series and the people shipping a 15 y/o girl with her abuser. nasty. other than the boyfriend that shall not be named, this still slapped. but this boyfriend needs to get slapped. hard. off a cliff.
