This definitely gave me a new perspective on Genya and why she made the decisions she did.

I liked Genya, even if I didn't trust her fully. But after this story, and her pov, I understand her even more. I understood her actions, and I don't blame her one bit. She, too, is a survivor, a survivor in a cruel world.

I don’t know if the Darkling reads them or if they sit unopened, a growing stack in some bureau drawer. I winced at that.

this just solidifies the fact that Genya was undoubtedly the best character in the Grisha trilogy

That's it. I'm gonna commit regicide. I'm pretty sure the books are gonna beat me to it, but man, I'm right there with the Darkling on this one. Genya deserves better.

I think Genya is my favorite character from this series, so I loved reading more of her story. I do wish it was a bit longer though.

4 stars. “Because I am a doll, and a servant. Because I am a pretty thing and a soldier all the same.” i loved this pov of genya and i cried, you know? but what pissed me the hell off was the fact that ivan said that zoya is replaceable. nope my queen isn't replaceable.

Certainly does it’s job in painting Genya in a more sympathetic light, but I feel like I already knew all this, though it’s been years since I read Shadow and Bone.

*ENG* This novella explores the character of Genya and it makes you better understand Genya's actions and why she did what she has done. I enjoyed reading this, since I already liked Genya in the books. Because I am a doll, and a servant. Because I am a pretty thing and a soldier all the same.

Genya's point of view was delightful and fascinating. I really want to know her other than the servant of her. Although this one is quite a few and doesn't really introduced her the way I wanted, yet it's okay! It makes me want to know her more.

This was ok. It was more of an additional POV, think Shadow and Bone early on when Alina is new to Os Alta and only just met Genya, as told by Genya. Also switching back and forth with Genya’s Backstory a little bit. I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s some ground breaking new information for readers but it fills in gaps and holes here and there where things hadn’t been explicitly stated before... Read it as part of the Square Fish / Macmillan edition (2014) 978-1-250-04443-3 of Siege and Storm.
