I sincerely think that this book is a few years late... I would not say that nothing goes in this book but too many flaws are present that for me to have really enjoyed my reading. 

First of all, I want to acknowledge that the idea was a good one, but before I chose to read this book, I should have known that it is not the idea that makes all but the way it is executed. 

If I had to start, I’d start by talking about the characters. We all know how much these are horribly criticized and demanded in the world of literature. In 2021 we want diversity and representation, know that here, there is none of this except the cliché of the American novel. And that’s not what bothers me about these characters because what they are doesn’t define them. But their personalities, thoughts, and actions count far more in the balance. Jack, Fleur, Julio, Amber and all the others are terribly cliché that it becomes almost vexing. And scary. Because I would not like to see characters represented in a totally unrealistic way for 500 pages. On top of that, their flaws do not make them human, they are almost placed so that we see selfishness (among others) as something totally normal. I mean.. it’s obvious that thinking about yourself and your desires and only to that is quite normal. but yes, of course. On top of that, they are not very clever as if the author detached their thoughts from their objective when they needed it and their actions are very detached as if they were acting "for the story". 

in fact, the problem in the construction and the (absence of) development of the characters is that it is very awkwardly done. I don’t know if it’s the author’s first book and if it is, it shows. Too much. I feel like I’m facing a shaky first draft. this book could have been good, the idea and the concept were there and there are things to exploit but the execution is a failure from my point of view. 

If I keep going, I’ll be talking about the main topic of discussion, which is death. I know that everyone experiences this phenomenon differently but I had the impression that the subject was approached as something normal. it is. but it has huge impacts and those are not addressed. The deaths of bad guys and good guys are really VERY badly tackled, quoted almost sometimes as collateral damage. When we talk about something like that, I’m sorry, but we have to go all the way. We don’t go over a topic like that. We don’t talk about death as something shocking at the moment but insignificant afterwards... I beg you it’s almost disrespectful.. It pisses me off more than anything because I almost feel that the author has never lost anyone, has lived a comfortable and trouble-free life without ever having to think. And it’s awfully sad because I know it’s not. There’s no such thing as trouble-free lives. and the author probably just didn’t know how to express herself properly and that’s normal. rare are the authors who knew how to find the words, we do not all have the power. 

What I’m getting at is that this book still has many other flaws and surely some qualities. His profile is selling and if we don’t take a minimum step back and start the YA then yes, this book is not so bad. but experience tells me no. this book compared to others doesn’t have much to do there. There are millions if not billions to write on earth and only a handful of us are widely read. a book can be commercial. but many books are not and are worth a thousand times more. This release of saxus is a disappointment to me but if you loved it, love it or will love it and well, I think it’s great. For if this book knew how to make people happy then it will be worth in the end nevertheless for every heart it touches. 

I want reality, a version of truth, of magic, of wonder, of history, I want battles that resonate. I expect a book not to educate me or entertain me. I want it to try to enrich me, to make me grow. that every page adds something to the person I am. what I want is not the most important especially for the person who will read this. I’m just saying if you want to read this book. read it and love it. but let’s not pick all our books at random.

je pense sincèrement que ce livre a quelques années de retard... je ne dirais pas que rien ne va dans ce livre mais trop de défauts sont présents que pour que j'aie pu vraiment apprécier ma lecture. 

en tout premier lieu, je veux bien reconnaître que l'idée était bonne mais avant de choisir de lire ce livre, j'aurais dû savoir que ce n'est pas l'idée qui fait tout mias la façon dont elle est exécutée. 


si je devais commencer, je commencerais par parler des personnages. on sait tous combien ceux ci sont affreusement critiqué et demandés dans le monde de la littérature. en 2021 on réclame diversité et représentation, sachez qu'ici, il n'y a rien de tout cela si ce n'est le cliché du roman américain. et ce n'est pas ça qui me dérange chez ces personnages car ce qu'ils sont, ne les définit pas. mais leurs personnalités, pensées et actes comptent bien plus dans la balance. Jack, Fleur, Julio, Amber et tous les autres sont affreusement cliché que cela en devient presque vexant. Et effrayant. Car je n'aimerais pas voir des personnages représenté de façon totalement irréaliste durant 500 pages. en plus de ça, leur défauts ne les rendent pas humain, ils sont presque placés de sorte à ce que l'on voit l'égoïsme (entre autre) comme quelque chose de totalement normal. je veux dire.. c'est évident que penser à soi et ses envies et uniquement à ça est tout à fait normal. mais oui. en plus de cela, ils ne sont pas très malins comme si l'autrice détachait leur pensées de leur objectif quand elle en avait besoin et leur actes sont très détachés comme si ils agissaient "pour l'histoire". 

en fait, le problème dans la construction et le (non) développement des personnages est que c'est très maladroitement fait. je ne sais pas si c'est le premier livre de l'autrice et si c'est le cas, ça se voit. beaucoup trop. j'ai l'impression d'être face à un premier jet encore tout tremblant. ce livre aurait pu être bien, l'idée et le concept étaient là et il y a des choses à exploiter mais l'exécution est un raté de mon point de vue. 

si je continue dans ma lancée je parlerais du sujet principal abordé qui est la mort. je sais que tout le monde vit différemment ce phénomène mais j'avais l'impression que le sujet était abordé comme quelque chose de normal. il l'est. mais il a des impacts énormes et ceux ci ne sont pas abordés. les morts des méchants comme des gentils sont vraiment TRÈS mal abordés, cités presque quelques fois comme des dommages collatéraux. quand on aborde quelque sujet de ce genre, je suis désolée, mais il faut aller jusqu'au bout. on ne survole pas un sujet pareil. on ne parle pas de la mort comme quelque chose de choquant sur le moment mais d'insignifiant par la suite... je vous en supplie c'est presque un manque de respect.. 

ça m'énerve plus qu'autre chose car j'ai presque l'impression que l'autrice n'a jamais perdu personne, a vécu une vie confortable et sans problème sans jamais eu avoir à réfléchir. et c'est affreusement triste car je sais que ce n'est pas le cas. les vies sans problèmes n'existent pas. et l'autrice n'a sûrement simplement pas su s'exprimer correctement et c'est normal. rare sont les auteurs qui ont su trouver les mots, nous n'en avons pas tous le pouvoir. 

où je veux en venir, c'est que ce livre a encore pleins d'autres défauts et sûrement quelques qualités. Son profil est vendeur et si on ne prend pas un minimum de recul et qu'on commence le YA alors oui, ce livre n'est pas si mal. mais l'expérience me dit que non. ce livre par rapport à d'autres n'a pas grand chose à faire là. on est des millions si pas des milliards à écrire sur terre et seulement une poignée d'entre nous sont lu à grande échelle. un livre peut être commercial. mais nombreux sont les livres qui ne le sont pas et qui en valent mille fois plus la peine. cette parution de de saxus est pour moi une déception mais si vous l'avez aimé, l'aimez ou l'aimerez et bien, je trouve ça super. car si ce livre a su rendre des gens heureux alors il vaudra au final quand même la peine pour chaque coeur qu'il aura touché. 

moi je veux la réalité, une version de la vérité, de la magie, de l'émerveillement, de l'histoire, je veux des combats qui résonnent. j'attends d'un livre non pas qu'il m'éduque ou qu'il me divertisse. je veux qu'il tente de m'enrichir, de me faire grandir. que chaque pages ajoute quelque chose à la personne que je suis. ce que je veux n'est pas le plus important surtout pour la personne qui lira ceci. je dis juste que si vous voulez lire ce livre. lisez le et aimez le. mais ne choisissons pas tout nos livres au hasard.
