Solid book, I just wish the ending had not felt so rushed!

deducting a star bc I feel that with another chapter or two this book would've been much more complete :-)

this book makes me sympathise w the main character so much — at her helplessness with missing important dates with her friends, family and boyfriend, the unlimited amount of work she has, 19 hour work days, unreasonably rude bosses — it just blew me away. the fact that I had worked in a somewhat similar environment before allowed me to even empathise with some parts of this book. 

i expected this book to be like any chick lit novel out there about office life - which expectation I had going into this - but I felt like I was given so much more. contemporary novels never fail to pull me out of a reading slump, and I'm glad to say that this book had been good enough to pull me out of one. 

for a first, this book wasn't recommended to me by any bookstagrammer or goodreads user, but by goodreads itself as I had told the system when I first signed up that I enjoyed reading chick lit (sophie kinsella will always be my first fav) and upon reading the storyline, it captured my interest immediately and I placed it on my tbr shelf. 

as school had started for me since September, I needed standalones rather than book series to keep me going - the latter would probably distract me from my studies bc of the seemingly never ending plot which I want to devote all of myself to when I do have the time.scrolling through all the ebooks I had on my iPad, my finger landed on biglaw thinking "let's do this" and I'm glad I took the recommendation of goodreads (thank you!) after finishing the book today. 

all in all, this book was a really great pick up ^_^
