I reread this book for the first time in years and forgot how much I loved it. I’m a big fan of Lindsey Kelk, just recently read One in a Million for the first time which I loved!! And thought I’d reread an old favourite, the one that hooked me all those years ago.

I’ve read some reviews which say it’s unbelievable... but for me it rang true so much. 3 years ago I was in an unhealthy relationship... with my job. I was obsessed, working hard constantly, had no life away from my work. I was doing really well and got two promotions within a year and was on track for another one too! But then... my manager got promoted into another region and I got a new boss who took an instant dislike to me and started making my life hell. I walked away from my job when I heard him telling someone who I managed that he wanted her for the role instead. It was the last straw. I felt like I had lost the love of my life - I’d lost myself in trying to be the best at my job - so I ran away. I moved to Hong Kong rather than New York, moved in with a girl and started writing and teaching.

Now it’s 3 years later and I write full time and live with my fiancé overlooking the amazing Hong Kong skyline on the 41st floor of a central building. 

Of course, it’s not exactly the same, I left a job, not a cheating man... I didn’t date two guys at once when I got here. I definitely didn’t blow all my money on shoes and bags! But I feel like this book really understood what I’d gone through and managed to put my thoughts and feelings down on paper. It just goes to show, sometimes running away and throwing yourself into scary situations works out better then you’d ever think.

I love the circumstances that finds the main character moving away. Its not overly original but I find that the strength behind the main character is something that a lot of authors don't add. I felt that this is a really easy read and I have continued with the series. Its a nice break from hear storylines. I liked the situation but it did feel a little cringy. It' a book that I didn't want to take to seriously. But overly enjoyed it and will be finishing off the series.

I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. What I loved about it was that it was set in New York. (I really do heart New York.) More than that, her apartment was only a few short blocks from the hotel I stayed in on my NY trip last month. That made it more fun and easy to visualize. But, the story was unrealistic. None of the characters were all that likable. Quick, easy read... But not one of my favorites.
