Games of Command

Games of Command is a mostly great quick sci fi romance except for a slightly dragging latter section and a secondary romance that was unbelievable to me.

I liked the mix of action/adventure and romance. Many sci fi romance books focus on the romance with the surrounding plot just being there to drive the romance along. And of course this is what many romance readers actually want. With this one, the rest of the plot felt like a first class citizen with the slow burn romance STILL also being at the forefront. I thought it was a nice balance.

The end got a bit slow at some point. Reminded me of that long action sequence in a movie that you kind of just wish would end already. How many cars could possibly explode and how many fancy kicks could the main character do before someone wins the fight already? It felt kind of like that.

I loved that it was third person. Nowadays with romance first person can seem like almost a requirement. But I love third person POV and was really happy about this.

I believe the Kel-Paten secretly being in love with Sass thing from the first time he saw her, because that can be explained by infatuation from a quick meeting that turned into a sort of romantic fixation until they actually met again in person and legitimate feelings grew.

But Jace and Eden? I didn't get that at all. Jace is meant to be some hot guy who has lots of flings. Eden is very level-headed and practical. I get that there may be a spark of attraction right away, but they both basically start being super affectionate and talking about 

out of nowhere? First, why would Jace be suddenly fixated on this one woman? Second, why would Eden not think twice about how fast this is moving? It just seems suspicious! And I got the same sense until the end.
