it was a good book that made feel so sad for saroo. i can’t imagine what he id been trough, the reason i give this 3 stars is bcs this isn’t the genre i would choose so i really had a hard time reading it

I have a huge crush on Dev Patel, which is the reason I picked up this book after watching the movie in the first place. But I swear, now it's one of my favourite films ever and Dev Patel is only like, 30% of the reason (okay, maybe 40%). Anyway, Lion A.K.A. A Long Way Home is about an Indian/Australian man's journey finding his hometown via Google Maps after spending the majority of his life being lost and with no connection to his birth family or even really knowing where he came from. It's very emotional and I love it so much.

After seeing the film I wanted to read Saroo Brierley's memoir. While the film focuses on the journey back to India, this book really tells the story of Brierley's early life. His story shows the vast difference between India’s poverty and the fortunate life I live in Australia. In the eyes of a five-year-old boy, it takes you on a journey of racial discrimination, poverty, and child trafficking.
