This was a fun and beautiful love story. This book will have you smiling, laughing and a little bit frustrated. The story is told from Olivia's point of view. Olivia and Neil were best friends when they were little but now they have grown up, they are both different but somehow keepgetting pulled back together. 

I love that Michelle Chamberland made Olivia a strong woman. The dynamics between Olivia and Neil made it so fun to read this book, not just the story line but the dialogue between the two. Sometimes I could relate to Olivia's inner banter, which is one of my favorite parts of books. Neil always seemed to respond genuinely towards Olivia.

that's me every freaking chapter. I'm not even kidding.

Actual rating: 4.5/5 - A lot of times I wanted to just put this book down and dnf it, but I couldn't. This book made me so uncomfortable (an understatement, actually) but it also made me curious and hopeful. Through it all, I was cursing and crying and blaming character after character, and all I could think of was 'This is not fair, It just isn't.'

But that's exactly what makes this story perfect - the fact that it shows how unfair life is and how ironically, it is our own fear, our own emotion, that hinders us from making the important choices, the ones that are right, the ones that are difficult to make. 

and that's me during the last chapters.

I'm glad I didn't stop reading. It was so disturbing and at the same time oh so moving from start to finish (although I admit, I did feel like I was punched in the gut multiple times).

I would gladly recommend Paper Butterflies to anyone who enjoys realistic fiction as much as I do. I could say more, but I'd rather have you dive blindly into it. Just have a pack of tissues ready (I'm serious)
