But the person who arrives is Emmy and he is left in a bit of a quandary...does he marry her and protect her and his fortune or does he send her packing?

Ven was very low in self esteem and did not come over as the strong soldier he should have been. Emmy was so laser focused on her project that she tried to deny the sparks between her and Ven and doesn't even think to ask him for help, even when they strike a deal to help each othero ut! 

But apart from that it was a highly enjoyable read, as the rest of this series is.
