Another great book recommendation from my youngest sister. I really kind of wish it was a YA book though just for a little more oomph in the story and a tad more spice. Like I would LOVE for a more in depth look at Quill and more about the mansion in Artimé. But still a great story. Definitely very much Hunger Games and Harry Potter vibes, especially Alex's relationship with Mr. Today

I couldn't even finish it. All the reviews about it being tons of fantasies mashed into one are correct. I wouldn't even mind that if the writing style was good, but it is extremely bland and boring, even if the plot isn't. My 12 year old sister enjoyed it however, so I think it is good for younger readers, just not older ones (I'm 15). After I told my sister I simply couldn't finish it, she told me how it ends, and it was just extremely predictable, bland and stereotypical. So again, I did not find this book enjoyable at all, but my 12 yr old sister did. Therefore, if you are a younger reader, or easily pleased in your book tastes you would most likely enjoy it.

Interesting premise of eliminating creativity in exchange for utilitarianism- reminds me of a nation state that will remain nameless. 
A little cliched - anyone else tired of twins? But will fill the spot between magic and dystopia for the 9-12 year old public.

I normally dread reading juvenile fantasy novels but this one was really fun! A review described it as Harry Potter meets Hunger Games and I would have to agree. It has the fun and whimsical magic of the early Harry Potter series and some of the divided, dystopic political unrest of the Hunger Games novels. If a child were looking for something similar to the Harry Potter novels, I would definitely recommend the Unwanteds series!

I found this book to such a fun fantsay read. I thought this book was such a great series and found it to be a good mix between Keeper of the lost cities, Divergent and Hunger Games. I really also like how this book focus on twin dynamics. I loved the magic system so much and loved how it focused on the arts! I thought that was so fun! I also really liked the eleements of found family that was featured. This was great series starting and one that am so excited that i read. hope to read more book in this series in the future.
