But when she passes me the novel, I open it at a random page and the words ‘hardened nipples’ blind me like a freaking flashlight, I think I might just know why.

"We might not know each other very well yet, but I have no doubt you’re the brightest light of sunshine, Grace."

It started out so great… then it got boring. I liked the storyline and the lack of drama, but it could have been way shorter.

If I didn't have to work today, I would've finished this book in one sitting yesterday!! I've been feeling myself get into a slump and I've been waiting for this debut novel to release since the beginning of the month. 

It did not disappoint. I loved it and the characters so much. It had great pacing to where I never felt like I was reading a 400 page book. 

I will definitely check future releases from this new author!

This was a heartwarming read, and I personally think that the author handled Grace’s SA very eloquently, and I really appreciated that the other characters were so understanding and weren’t forcing her to change or be someone that she isn’t. Maddie is adorable and I loved what she added to the story as well. I also love the trope of ‘looks like he could kill you’ **is actually a cinammon roll** cause that wraps up Cal pretty well. 
Definitely recommend a read!

Full disclosure, I do not like romance novels, so I went in with low expectations, and I go in kinda hard.

This was. Fine. Like, storytelling-wise, it was well-paced, but I don’t think the author has ever heard adults speak to each other or has ever been near a 4-year-old in their life. Maddie teeters between too wise and too juvenile to the point where I genuinely thought Cal had another sister or that she was probably at least 11. 

Cal’s dialogue feels too young for a 30 year old who owns a business. Even if he’s meant to be emotionally stunted, like. He sounds maybe 21. 23 at best. (I started LAUGHING at “My beautiful sunshine…” like…. your poor meow meow who never did anything wrong… you tried your best you really did….)  Like, respectfully. A 30 year old feeling ashamed of beating his meat to the thought of someone else fully has me doubled over in tears laughing.

Grace and her friends sound like high schoolers and they’re in their senior year of college. Your ovaries exploded? Unironically? It’s not 2010 on Tumblr anymore, babe.

The side characters did not feel fleshed out at all. Like, they were there for the sake of filling air.

The frontloading fact dumping always annoys me. Please show me, don’t tell me.

But back to the good things: I do appreciate that the author did not illustrate the trauma that Grace has gone through, and that focus was put on her growth.

The actual exposition of the smutty scenes pleasantly surprised me, and I think the extended vase metaphor was done well. 

All in all, I am not the target audience and I was just curious but it's an easy enough read and I think down the line I would give this author another shot if her dialogue gets any better and she learns how to write a male character. 

Stars given for pacing and delicate care given to a survivor MC. The rest is uh. Well. I'll stick to AO3 for romance and pwp.

This was soooo cute in terms of fluff and relationship dynamics but im a little disappointed at how it played out. I know romances like these tend to be quick and a bit underwhelming but it made every other character aside from Cal and Grace basically irrelevant due to us not learning anything substantial about them.

I feel like the author wasn’t really sure how to develop the conflict within the book because every time it was mentioned and/or seen it all ended very swiftly, mostly explained through time-skips. Then we are supposed to believe they fell in love, again, through explanations instead of actions. Like you’re telling me Cal has all these thoughts about Grace after saying literally two sentences to her ,,, okay. 



Also ….. i get it’s a college town but does Cal really have nothing better to do than go to a frat party omfg like i’m so embarrassed for him.

Very basic and wattpadesque - the relationship was kind of infuriating (at times) and as lots of readers pointed out, why is a 30yr old going to Frat parties? 😭

Overall, it’s an okay book - the plot is very cliche and it’s nothing original but if u like corny this one’s for you 

ALSO - how does one whisper roughly?? I was very perplexed by that LOL

This is was one that I found through BookTok and I can see a lot of potential in it but there were some reasons for why it had a lower rating. This is a debut so that is obviously taken into consideration. There were some grammatical sentence structure mistakes that I found while reading. I find that to be minor but I know that sometimes people like that pointed out. I did feel like there was so much packed in there that I lost the meaning of the story. Like how her struggles of intimacy were quickly brushed away and even with the healing she had she had some difficulties but it lasted all of one page and not discussed again when it could have been seen throughout or at least talked about more. 

While it was slow in areas it felt rushed in others, like the ending for example. I will say to that it is one where they became friends before lovers and in my opinion their friendship made less sense than their relationship. They should have really only been a couple.

This book was grumpy x sunshine and so cute tattoo artist x ballerina as well the story was addictive and we'll written. The subtle hints something bad was gonna happen were evil. 

Süßes Buch, nur leider keine ernsthaft spannende Story. Alles sehr fluffig, allerdings ist der Sex unpassend „rough“.
