Ehhh… was okay. Eerie premise as this is something that happens in real life. I hate Ray (kidnapper)… love “Alice”/Kyla and I’m <spoiler> glad she had a change of heart at the end and helped to save Lucy. So sad that at the end she ended up dying with Ray… wish she had gotten free and seen her family again </spoiler>.

wow! what a shocking book! "alice" being kidnapped by a guy (that keeps her for a very long time) when she was in a school fieldtrip tells us(the readers) how her life is and what has happened to her when abducted! wow! this kind of books scare me because this hppens in real life too!!! although it has a not so good ending, this book should open everybody's eyes for bad people like these out in the world !!

Seriously disturbing. A candid narrative on forced imprisonment. Not for the faint. I had a hard time reading some of the scenes especially with Ray. Read it all in on sitting. Still reeling.

           This book... I dont know what to say! It had me from the first page to the last! An awful story about mental illness, kidnapping, abuse, and rape written in a very touching way!

** spoiler alert **            This was probably the heaviest book I have ever read. The ending of it, was anything but satisfying. But a complete one. I can't bring myself to give it 1 stars, it truly is a book I fear will haunt me for the rest of my life. A handful of times I had to put it down and cry or gag at the thought process of the narrator... It's gut wrenching and hurts more than anything I could ever fathom. I don't want to think about this book anymore but I know it will truly haunt me for the rest of my life... I was Alice at one point but I will make my ending satisfying.

I just finished Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott, and … and I don’t know what to think. This is one of the weirdest, most disturbing books I’ve ever read (and this is counting The Lovely Bones and Twilight. Scratch that. It’s the most disturbing book I’ve ever read. And I don’t know what to think about it. The book is about a girl named “Alice” that is kidnapped. I can’t talk about it more. On one hand, it was well-written. On the other hand, the subject matter is haunting. 

Being a girl who is easily scared (I couldn’t re-read The Lovely Bones; I’d first read it when I was twelve and didn’t understand much of the subject matter), this will stay in my mind for a long-long while. And the fact that it was well-written makes everything worse. And I found this in the YA section of my library–which is debatable–in my opinion, The Lovely Bones is much less disturbing and is an adult novel.

           The story focuses on what happens when a ten year old girl gets kidnapped. Ray (the abductor), of course, was very unlikeable and the main girl, Alice, I don't believe was written to be necessary likeable, but more likely written the way she is to understand what goes on when this occurs. She doesn't fight back, but that is because she doesn't have hope anymore and she doesn't care what Ray does to other little girls because then that will mean that she is free, even if freedom is at the cost of her own life. But when given the task of selecting a new girl for Ray, she starts to feel more emotions and a chance of getting back to her family.

Can I even say I enjoyed this read? Because saying something like that seems so wrong. There is nothing enjoyable in the content. Everything that happens in this book is horrific - beginning to end. 

I started reading it last night and the next thing I know is that I wake up in sweat at 3 in the morning because I had a nightmare resembling some of the scenes from this book. 

Living Dead Girl is horrifying and what makes it so is the fact that somewhere in the world things like that happen to children. They happen all the time and I don't know whether I know how to deal with that fact. 

Anyways, I want to quickly reflect over one thing regarding the novel structure. I've seen people complaining that there is no ending or that it just ends abruptly without any closure and I completely disagree. It was fitting to the story, and expecting anything different to happen is just not too realistic. The one complaint I have is that Alice, in the circumstances she was in, could have at least tried to get through to the police or rather anyone who could help. 

As an author, Scott handled the whole thing with bravo and I bow to her for having the gut to write such a story in the first place.

I'm not sure...it's heart-breaking and angering and all that, and it's most likely happening to some little girl right now, but for some reason it didn't 'get' me. It might be the writing style or maybe simply the fact that it's so gruesome I just zoned out of my feelings.

I wasn't expecting much from such a short book, but that definitely fit in a big dose of depressing. Living Dead Girl is about Alice. She was abducted when she was 10 by a man named Ray, who rapes her. He constantly tells her that she is HIS little girl, her name is Alice, and that if she is good then he won't hurt her, if she is good then he won't kill her parents. He's a liar. She's now 15 and still his LITTLE girl. He stunts her growth, starves her, and make her take pills to stop her period. There used to be a first Alice, when she turned 15, authorities found her dead body in a river not far from her hometown. 'Alice' is approaching her own 15th birthday. What will happen to 'Alice'?? 

This was a pretty haunting story. Ray is a captor so disturbing I wanted to stop reading, but couldn't put the book down until it was done. It was intense, real, and perfectly painful to read. It's told through the girl's PoV, desperate and helpless, and speaks horrifically to the imagination. It's not a topic I can relate to, but I think the way it's written, all people could feel connected to it.

I loved the ending, Jake got the semi-hero part that he wanted, killing Ray and saving his little sister AND 'Alice'. But Alice was shoot too which I think was good because honestly, there's no way she could've ever recovered. And she got to die with the knowledge that Ray died first and she saved Lucy from being his next victim, his next 'Alice'. Now she, Kyla Davis, is FREE.

So creepy, so devastating, so real. It just blows your mind. Like pfft, you wouldn't be capable of thinking anything else. So lost in the story, you would be almost begging for peace. The author throws such lines at you that you are stunned and you sit staring at them, reading them repeatedly, not wanting them to be true. Dream, dream you want it to be a dream. It is a nightmare, for the living dead girl and also you, the living dead reader.You are the living dead reader because you are too engrossed to stop reading. 
The book is so well written, it feels so real. That you have to keep reminding yourself it's a work of fiction.
It is a work of fiction, right? RIGHT?
