Talk Flirty to Me

Livy Hart2022
I’ve got ninety-nine problems and my brother’s snarky, smart-mouthed best friend Sam is tangled up in every last one of them. When it comes to firefighter Sam O’Shea, absence—and a regime of tactical avoidance—has been working for me juuust fine. But when the audition of a lifetime falls in my pathetically broke lap, and he’s the only one who can help me land the job, I’m willing to make a deal with the devil if it means I can kickstart my career as a narrator for audio books. The problem? We’d have to actually do the job. Together. And then we’re told it’s for an erotic romance. Narrating steamy lines in a tiny studio with a man who lights a fire under your skin? An occupational hazard. Accidentally inciting a town scandal when your erotic audiobook clips wind up on the radio? A crisis. And falling for the one man I promised my brother—and my heart—I wouldn’t touch? A disaster—and temptation—I can’t resist.

This book was everything and more I ever needed. The tropes I would've never expected to be put together worked so good. I've been in some reading slump lately, not finishing books but this book had me glued to my phone reading it. Would absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes a cute but hot romance.

This was a fun rom com about 2nd chances. Piper and Sam were high school sweethearts who had a somewhat messy break up. Unfortunately, their breakup caused a ripple effect of problems for those around them. Ten years later they are both on the brink of realizing their individual dreams and reluctantly team up to help each other as long as they keep it professional. Can they really? This was an audiobook, which was funny because part of the story is about the audiobook voice recording industry. My only qualms were the two main characters lack of sharing their true feelings, which was the cause of many of their problems past & present. The two voice actors were good, but they each had a little different take on the side characters voices, which bugged me a bit. Overall, it was still a fun story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Piper Bellini is back home to help her mom who is expecting her 11th child. Her career as an audiobook narrator is on the rocks anyway, but she is hoping that an upcoming audition will give her the opportunity she needs. The only problem is that the audition is for two voices, one male and one female. Piper doesn't want to ask her brother, Caleb for help because he is just now reestablishing his friendship with Sam O'Shea, Piper's former boyfriend. Piper's breakup with Sam is what caused his and Caleb's estrangement, and it has lasted for years. When Sam finds out about the audition, he offers to help, but Piper's not sure that working closely with Sam is such a good idea.

Talk Flirty to Me has an interesting premise, and that alone might be enough to carry this book, but it offers so many more layers, not the least of which is Piper's relationship with her family. Both main characters are well developed and easy to like. Unfortunately, most of the issues they face relate to the lack of communication, and some of the banter seems childish and unnecessary, while the third act conflict seems as though it could easily have been solved. However, this story has a level of fun and enjoyment that not all books are able to convey. Overall, Talk Flirty to Me is a cute story that does tackle some heavier concerns.

One of my favorite troupes of all time Second Chance Romance (I am a hopeless romantic) and to make it even better it involves brother’s best friend (those are always love/hates). This is seriously one of my favorites of the year. Right from the start I knew that Sam and Piper shared an amazing chemistry and the story was well balance which made they way they came together that much sweeter. They pushed one another and faced the past. Add in their crazy families and you have yourself a fantastic story. The author did a wonderful job with the hilarity and seriousness of the story. I will be reading more of Livy Hart’s books in the future. A special thanks to netgalley and entangled publishing for providing me with the ARC.

Hilarity, hijinks, and so much heart. And voice, voice, VOICE: this book is simultaneously sharp as a tack and laugh-out-loud funny, but the humor doesn’t overshadow the romance. This is as perfect a second-chance slow burn as I’ve ever read. Piper and Sam have my heart forever.
