As I'm writing this book review I suddenly feel unsure of my thoughts centered around this book, I can't feel much but that's probably more of a personal thing in this moment

The similarities between the relationship dynamics between Aura & Ruby and K & Calypso were very similar, however I connected more with K and Calypso's stories and characters 

First I want to say that I loved the plot and the backstory, it was very well written and it kept me intrigued. 

I also really liked the friendemies trope. The backstory to how they ended up as enemies was unexpected and sad. The way K was forced to hurt Calypso to save her from a more extruciating pain, it broke them both. She chose a lesser evil between two evils, I think this was an interesting topic that I usually don't see that often

I love Calypso and K a lot and related to both of them in different ways. 

Calypso's need to numb herself to not feel anything, was something that I related to. K's trust issues due to her past experiences, always believing people would leave, wanting to be alone because at least then she'd be safe from the pain of people hurting and leaving her. This is something I could understand on a personal level

They loved each other unapologetically. The feelings they had for each other were raw and passionate. Whether it was in hate or love, they were always secretly protecting and saving each other. 

Their stories were gritty, dark and tragic, they both went through so much. Calypso being tortured repeatedly and endlessly at the hands of the Nation. Numbing herself with pills to escape her pain

K being abused by her family and losing her mother at an early age, then being forced to hurt the only person who ever helped her feel better

Despite their painful stories they managed to survive through all the abuse and pain. In the end they realized their feelings of hatred had just been a layer hiding their true emotions for each other

I found the cult theme realistic and very well written. It showed the way The Nation operated and how twisted their mindset was. Calypso's after effect of their torture and brainwashing, changing her into someone she couldn't recognize, even her name was changed.

The scene at the clinic showcased a very disturbing result of sexism and darkness. It is truly terrifying to think about that these things are happening in the world

I really loved the ending where Calypso found herself and even felt happy to be alive, despite her horrifying experiences with The Nation and suicidal thoughts , she managed to feel better and even get to a place where she felt grateful to be alive. That feeling is very peaceful and lovely when you have that moment of genuine gratitude and happiness

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there were some moments where I found it a bit boring and I skimmed through those moments, I also couldn't feel as many emotions as I do when I read my five star books, but that might just be me tho

Today I have a review for Hush by Liza James. I had the pleasure of getting my hands on an advanced copy for which I am eternally grateful. 

18+ only. This Is a Dark Erotic Romance. You have been warned. 

First off I want to reiterate that this book is dark. Very Dark. Before you read make sure you look up the trigger warnings. Liza has them in the book description but as a start we have SA, Cults, murder, Drug use and addiction ect. Take them seriously. Also while this if a Sapphic romance there will be some peens. Keep that in mind

Onto the book. I liked it. This definitely falls more into Erotica for me in terms of spicy books. It is very Spicy though consent can be an issue. 

This book is the Sequel to Vibe but doesn't follow the same couple. We get to follow K and Calypso (Lyp) on their journey and interactions with The Nation, which is a cult we met in Vibe. I would suggest reading Vibe first as they don tie together plot wise

I liked both of our characters they are toxic and fucked up but that makes them feel more real and gritty and I liked them more for it. 

We get to see Ruby and Aura come back which is awesome. I enjoyed seeing them. 

The sex was great (Isn't that what I came for.) There is a strap scene that was -Chefs Kiss-

All in all. If you are looking for a Dark, Lesbian Romance. I would recommend this one. Keep mind that fiction and reality are different things.
