I absolutely loved it, what a wild ride!! I admit I wasn't so sure I even liked it at the beginning because I felt like I just got throw into the mix and it was a little jarring for my personal taste. Though once I got more into the reading style which alternates every chapter between past and present the pages started flying by. Also, early on all I wanted to focus on was what took place in the past, but it quickly (maybe 15% in) I found myself equally invested in all sides of the story.

Everything is told from Jack's POV who's narration I like from the start, he had the kind of observations and humour I could get behind, but it was Ethan's mysterious character that pulled in and wouldn't let go. I mean I'm easy I admit it, give me a complex killer with a hidden softer side and I know I will fall in love! This book was non-stop action. There wasn't really slowing down either in the past or present so between both you really get a lot. Even the interrogations and trying to deicifer all the hidden messages going on without fully knowing what happened in the past but picking on hints that there was some underlying thing going on was exciting. I loved the whole Jack and Ethan forced to work together and slowly letting their guards down around one another but at the same time never fully because they're essentially enemies who could easily turn on each other. That tentative bond they formed during their trek through the desert and the surprising playful banter between them during tense events was fun to read. Shelia the camel interactions was everything I wanted but didn't know I needed and seeing another side of Ethan at the same time was wonderful. The way they took care of each other was so unexpected but welcoming. Also, the growing attraction and obvious sexual tension that was building was enough to make me giddy seeing if either would dare make a move. When we meet them both in the present there was still those same vibes just with an obvious edge and shared history we weren't quite aware of until closer to the end. 

I'm really curious where the series will go both in terms of plot and their growing relationship. Definitely a series I will continue on with and I can't wait to dive into book 2. I'm trying to lower my excitement because I'm guessing this style of storytelling will be a bit different but none the less I can't wait!
