Anne seems so out of character in this book.

4.5 Anne and Gilbert :)

Full (mini) review now posted! (And I do mean ‘mini’…) Rating: 3.5 stars I thought I had never read this book, but I was evidently mistaken! Every book in this series has it’s share of ups and downs, but this installment had the most devastating heartbreak. There was heartbreak on more than one front, but beauty and healing were still right around the corner. Here we have Anne fully grown and embarking on married life. Her joys are now deeper, but her sorrows are those of an adult, as well. She manages to deal with them gracefully, and makes some remarkable new friends in the process. Captain Jim is a lovely man, and I thoroughly enjoyed him. I’ve been enjoying this series immensely, but this particular book was definitely sadder than preceding novels. Only three more to go! And I'm positive I've never read these last three. Really, I am. XD

as I finish reading this book I realise... I skipped an entire book in this series 🤭

This book is so moving, I cried several times. It does feel as though the story is moving away from Anne, as I've found each book held less of her and more of other characters, which is a bit heart-breaking, but the characters here are some of my favorite "secondary" actors in the Green Gables books. Captain Jim in particular is a gem.

not one of my favourites from the series ... it took me so long to read it was mildly boring im so sorry. still love the series tho

I think this might be my favourite of the Anne of Green Gable's books. It was so lovely to see her with Anne in their new home! All the new characters were a pleasure to hear from, especially Captain Jim although it was a shame to no longer have Diana and Marilla such integral parts of the story (but I guess just as people grow and move on, Anne must move on with her life)

This is one of my favorites in the Anne series!! I loved it so much!! It me laugh and cry, and I am totally fine with that!!

I feel like each Anne book is becoming more realistic, more "sad" along the way and it´s natural and okay, but it´s harder for me to read it when there are tough stuff going on in lives of characters I love so much. I feel like they are real people, described in such a lovely human-like way. They feel like your friends! I did not enjoy this book as much as the previous ones, maybe because it´s all about adult stuff and not that much about dreams, and had harder times getting into the plot. Oh, and I miss Green Gables, I miss the old characters and Diana. But don´t get me wrong, I still love Anne, I absolutely adore this series and it´s one of my most favorite books of all the time. It´s just the melancholy, the growing and being an adult, that made me a bit "sad".

3.5/5

Captain Jim Boyd carried the whole book, period.

This book. So much sorrow, so much love. I loved it.
