This manga version of Anne of Green Gables is a delightful little read! I just finished reading the original Anne of Green Gables, which is why it took me so long to get to this book. I wanted to make sure I read. the original and could do a good comparison. And man, it was an accurate and lovely little resource to read the story in a different way. I really liked the illustrations and I felt like it worked really well with the material. 

Anne and her kindred spirit are expressed with bright eyes and quirky traits. Matthew has one scene where his eyes are so big it's comical, but that was the only negative I could even think about this book. He looked kinda funny for a single frame. 

Overall, this book is a great resource! If you loved Anne or if you want a different way to take this novel in, grab it! I think this manga classic is an excellent adaptation and I really loved jumping back in Avalon.

           I have to say when I saw that Anne Of Green Gables was made into a Manga. I got very excited cause Anne Of Green Gables one my favorite classic from my childhood. If you haven't read Anne Of Green Gables you need to. It's thebest book you will ever read. It follows the life of Anne orphaned when she was very smalls. Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert had asked for a boy to help Matthew around at Green Gables. But they got Anne instead and Matthew grew to love Anne and let Marilla know that they should keep her. Little did Marilla know that she to would love Anne. So they kept her and havent regreted it at all. I will do a more indepth review on my booktube channel at the end of the month with my monthly wrap up. I highly recommend this manga and I will be getting it in a physical copy cause thats how much I loved it.

Anne of Green Gables has been a personal favorite for almost two decades now and I'm always interested to see new adaptations and how they choose to interpret such a well-loved classic. Manga is such an amazing medium to explore AoGG because the story is so visually rich and its told very episodically, which works very well with the way manga is drawn and organized. And I definitely enjoyed the way the manga genre was used to bring Anne alive, but I kind of wish they had leaned into the genre even more. I think the screenwriter was focusing too much on finding a single storyline to pull through the manga, rather than fully exploring all the fun episodes and adventures that Anne had throughout the book, even if they were kind of tangents. Personally, a large part of the reason I love AoGG is that it's just a series of slice-of-life moments where you can gradually see Anne grow and mature and get into any manner of ridiculous scrapes. There were a couple of incidents that either weren't in the manga at all or were only given a page that I think could have been absolutely hilarious told in this format. The Haunted Wood, for example, would have been AMAZING if they had devoted more time to telling that incident. Like I can just imagine Anne running through the woods, all the ghosts of her imagination chasing her, and then you have a panel of Marilla watching Anne run, with nothing around her, and Marilla has just the Most Done look on her face. This is absolutely the best medium to have a moment like that and I'm disappointed it wasn't there. I loved the moments when Anne's imaginations were drawn out so we can really experience them with her, so I wish there had been more of them included in the book. Basically, I wanted more. More of Anne's imagination, more of her adventures, more of just her life and her joys and her cares and her worries. I kinda wish this was a multi-volume series so the creators could have had more time to really explore Anne and her world. But this was still a wonderfully nostalgic adaptation of a time-tested favorite and I definitely think everyone should pick it up.

This was a really good manga for someone like me that just watched the Netflix series but is really curious about the books this manga was a really good start. The artist is really talented and it made me curious to see the other manga classics just to see this new point of view. The manga is really fast and is not everything that has in the book and the artist tells you this so please don't go to read it with the expectation of the full book.
