I liked this a little less than vol. 3 as it took a while to get the plot really moving in this volume. But man, once the plot gets going, it's intense. It may seem like Zack is always ahead of everything and he's going to win. Yet, Bode was catching. There was a sad death in this volume and there was a huge cliff hanger at the end.
Shit's getting real. Pretenses are dropped, someone shows more of his true nature, someone else is in jeopardy. Still enjoying this series a LOT. On to vol. 5.
This ending!!! I’m so intrigued as to what is going to happen next!!!! This volume did get a lower rating from the rest of the volumes (but still a high rating) because I found it a little bit confusing at times. I felt as though it was a little disjointed and it did jump around quite a bit. Again however, I really love the artwork and illustrations!!! Visually, it is absolutely STUNNING!!! I also really am still enjoying the plot and definitely need to read the last to volumes in this series like right now!!!
Wow.... Shit just got real. I really hope they don't ruin the ending of this series, because it is so unforgiving and cruel and i just want it to have an explosive ending. My favorite volume yet.
The beginning of this volume was exciting and intriguing, and then it kind of slowed down in the middle. I felt myself getting really bored, which seems wild in this high-stakes, gory horror series. Yet, it happened. And then the ending. Oh, the ending. So many crazy things happened! It was great to see one of the characters finally putting some dots together, and taking a stand against the bad guy. I liked the progression of the story and feeling like something besides "discovering new keys" was happening. It left on enough of a cliffhanger that I will probably be reaching for the next volume very soon!
Reread February 6th, 2021 4.25/5 A very dynamic and fun volume! I think I liked this one better than the first time reading it. New keys are always so much fun, and the plot twists are very nice. First read November 11th, 2015 Well, it was alright. A lot was revealed and finally the Locke family has a clue of what's going on. Although a new mystery has appeared, I wonder how long it'll take them to understand.

I read the ending with lots of noise--lots of oh! Oh no! What?!!! OMG!!! and the last part I read as fast as I could. This volume was the best so far.
The first half was a bit confusing and slow, but the story really does pick up at the end and what happens is nuts. Can’t wait to read the last two and see how the story unfolds!
