Cetaganda

Pranebella

Miles felt as if he'd crossed the border into Faerie, and when they emerged this afternoon, a hundred years would have passed outside.

Bujold

Attending a diplomatic ceremony on Cetaganda, Miles and Cousin Ivan get into a heap of political trouble when the late empress' lifelong attendant is murdered, and Ivan gets involved with several beautiful and well-connected aliens

Loving the weird sci-fi bio-genetic cultures and parties.

There is a fun mystery at the heart of the story, and enough cultural strangeness to keep the reader curious. This is one of the more "fun" and "bright" books of the author that I've read.

Great start and finish but about 50 too many parties and ceremonies inbetween.
