Lord Foul's Bane

Gavin

Prashanth Srivatsa

A modern day leper finds himself in an ancient world, prophesied to be either its savior or destroyer. But he barely has your attention (few characters do). Instead, Donaldson has poured his heart into creating a stunningly beautiful, richly detailed land, absorbing you into its myriad forests, hills, rivers and stones. Health and illness are almost palpable there, shaping the ambitions and motives of the races that populate it. Fantasy has rarely been so lore-ridden and inviting since the Lord of the Rings.

Determined to never again be manipulated by the evil Lord Foul the Despiser, Thomas Covenant prepares to aid the Land's besieged Council of Lords by meeting Lord Foul in final combat. Reissue.

The Power That Preserves

** spoiler alert **
I read this trilogy and the first two books had no resolution concerning the fate of the main character and I kept reading expecting that to be taken care of in the 3rd book. It does, but I don't have to say that I liked it. The main character has leprosy. It never goes away. He's a pariah even after he saves the world. Lame.

This book is lots of ok, occasional good, and sporadic "worst thing ever". Also, there's a review out there by a guy named Stephen that Mark a Lawrence commented on as better than the book that was everything about why I think it's meh
