Break and Enter A Callahan Security Novel

Lori Matthews2020
Callahan Security is on the brink of disaster. Mitch Callahan pushed his brothers to expand the family business into private security, and their first major client is a complete pain in the ass. It's no wonder the man has a target on his back, but nothing could prepare Mitch for how seductive his adversary is. Love hurts. No one knows that better than Alexandra Buchannan, so she uses her talents as a thief to equalize the scales of romantic justice. Your ex still has your favorite painting? Not for long. Alex's latest job is her biggest challenge yet. Her target just hired a new security company, and the team leader is as smart as he is sexy. Mitch knows he's jeopardizing not only this job but the future of Callahan Security. If only he didn't find Alex so damn irresistible. Soon their game of cat and mouse explodes into a million pieces. Unbeknownst to them, there's another player in the game, and his intentions are far deadlier.

Alex Morgan also known as heiress Alexandra Buchannan has been helping people retrieve their beloved belongings for years now as an Asset Repossession Specialist, but her handler, Leo, thinks it's time for them to retire. Alex believes he might be right when she is almost caught by security specialist, Mitch Callahan, during a job in Venice. Little does she know that she is going to run into Mitch again when she tries to repossess a car for her latest client. Mitch's security firm has been hired to protect the owner of proprietary technology in the field of facial recognition, who also currently has custody of the car. Alex tries to forget her attraction to Mitch, but he keeps showing up when she least expects it.

Break and Enter is a very entertaining beginning for the Callahan Security romantic suspense series. Alex and Mitch are likable characters, but even though we learn about their history, there isn't much emotional content to back up that information. There are moments in the story when the action and adventure are very exciting, but without thorough character development, the plot is a little repetitious and boring at times. Even though Alex and Mitch get their HEA by the end of the book, clearly the overarching mystery will continue in further entries in this series. Overall Break and Enter is an enjoyable romantic suspense romp filled with thrills and engaging scenes.
