           From the very beginning I did not like this. Why did I keep reading it you may ask? Well, it's for a book club on book tube that I wanted to be a part of so I didn't want to give up, and I thought surely it must get better at some point, right?? 
You get thrown into this story being very confused (at least I was) and not in a good way. In the beginning it had a steady back and forth between when Lisa is a ghost and when she was still alive. Then all of a sudden it stayed with her being alive for most of the book but then at the end switches back to her being a ghost with no real transition, so you kind of get whiplashed around. The transitions in general were not very good in my opinion, whenever we got to a new part it felt disconnected from the previous one. For most of the book I saw no real destination that we were headed towards. Pretty early on you know how it's gonna end. There was nothing to keep the plot moving forward, I found it to be pretty boring. Because there were no clear plot twists once you got to the end it was really unsatisfying. Once I got to then I asked myself what the point was. This book accomplished nothing for me. And the entire plot line of the twins and their father felt completely unnecessary. You could've taken the entire thing out and it wouldn't have changed anything. I felt like it had absolutely. nothing to do with Lisa except that she tried to save the father at the beginning, but then you find out he abused his children so I had zero sympathy for him by the end. Was it all connected and I just missed it?? I feel like I'm missing something that everyone else got :/ And what was the reason that Matty went down to the morgue in the hospital to see the body of the dead father? Was that something I was supposed to relate to something else? It seemed had nothing to do with anything except make that the way they could connect him to Lisa's death. I'm so mad I kept reading this because I feel like it took me forever and I could've been reading something else way better!

I read Apple Tree Yard and thoroughly enjoyed it. When I saw this book, which also feautured 'ghostly goings on' it was swiftly added to my wishlist, then read.
This book manages to be both a thriller, and a literary piece of fiction. We're swiftly introduced to a ghost that roams Peterborough train station. She doesn't know who she is or what happened to her. The story then switches between the events of the train station (with other linked events) and the months leading up to the girl's death.
I was immediately swept into this story and its characters. Each of them had depth and I wanted to get to know them all, especially Dalmar. In fact, characterisation is where Louise Doughty really flourishes. The middle section of the story details a particular relationship (I don't want to give anything away), that was particularly uncomfortable to read, in that it was so well written. I could feel myself talking to the characters to try and warn them, not that it would have done any good.
I really loved this book. I wouldn't say I enjoyed it, because of the subject matter, but I had to find out what happened and couldn't put it down. I highly recommend.

Read this with The Literally Dead Bookclub. NOT A FAN. I was so bored. It took me two weeks to finish this book. I can usually read a good thriller in a day. This was just not for me. At all.

This book was enjoyable. I don't regret reading it... but i also don't feel like I was properly rewarded. 
It sounded really interesting and I love a good paranormal mystery. It also happens to be the next book for Lala's Literally Dead Book Club so I gave it a go. 

However a good like 150 pages there in the middle was all backstory, it was relevant, and I stuck through it on the hopes for a big pay off at the end. It's all got to culminate to something right?

The ending definitely fell flat for me. What I wanted to happen totally didn't and we all just kind drift away from what happened and the problem. 

That's mainly what knocked this book down for me. I appreciated the writing style and I liked the setting and contemplative nature of the character. But then ending left me wanting.

I wanted to love this book. The premise sounded so cool. A ghost thriller? Yes please. Unfortunately what I got was a slow burn, rather boring, domestic, kind of thriller. The majority of this book felt like it had nothing to do with the synopsis. It followed Lisa and her life leading up to her death rather than the mystery surrounding the platform. The book felt significantly longer than necessary. I felt like I was forcing myself to pick it back up each day. 

I liked the writing style, and it wasn't a bad book, but it definitely wasn't for me.
