I’ve had this collection of poems for quite a while now and I picked it up here and there, finally finishing it last night. This is a prime example of poetry well-liked in the age of social media and contrary to popular belief this is not meant to be a jab at all, as I don’t think the way poems are enjoyed have anything to say about their quality. This is accessible poetry that might even interest younger, previously avoidant people so I’d say that is great thing to start with.

The whole book is just beautifully made: photographs, the black and white aesthetic and enough room for the poems to stand out on these pages. Craftingwise it is an absolute masterpiece. Now I didn’t resonate with every single piece on here but that would be surprising, however, some did have a little bit of the flair of “just a weird thought” when it was a single phrase or sentence, a little bit lost on those big pages.

I enjoyed dipping into this book over and over again and there were quite a few poems I’ll keep in mind or keep returning to. If you enjoy this kind of poetry, this book is a beautiful addition to any shelf.

Read this collecting poetry in one sitting. Some of poem brief and gentle, I can feel much feeling when read it. My favorite in wild part, the other just too cheesy for my taste. And love some of the photograph.

This is the type of book any of my literary friends will rip me apart for reading. It’s like Rupi Kaur - vacuous but good. I don’t know. At this point, it’s my guilty pleasure. Some of the parts about pain were quite good. 

I liked this segment:
it is a gift, you see, to feel this much
and even though it’s hard
it means you’re alive
with each of these tearful breaths gasped
your soul awakens,
more alive in the pain
than you were in the numb

A lot of it was bad ripoffs of classical poetry, which normally appreciate a lot, but now I feel too lazy to translate and analyze. This book was a good quick fix.

What the hell did I just read, and who picked this rotten piece of tripe up and put it on the best seller wall? How in the hell did this dude get a book contract? I mean, other than the slow downward spiral of modern book publishing always looking for a viral hit...

Love Her Wild, is "Instagram poetry" which means it is short and insipid (the short part being the only good thing about this book). Admittedly, Instagram poetry doesn't have to be bad. I should be less caustic about the idea as a whole, but Atticus' verbiage is just a bunch of crappy Facebook memes wrapped up in an a beautiful package. That just makes the book's existence more offensive as better books deserve the production treatment that this one got. There is nothing new in this volume. It's all about love and life and being free, things people have written about since time immemorial with much more beautiful language and much deeper insights. This is poetry that makes you feel good because it says nothing. It's pablum. It's the Doritos of the poetry world. It's the stuff your relatives used to send in email forwards with midi files attached. It's barely fucking poetry. Buy a Hallmark card and you can get the same placid, meaningless nonsense. Poetry has developed a bad reputation for being indecipherable, but Love Her Wild swings in the opposite direction. Some of the shorter pieces have probably starred on fortune cookie papers. 

If you are interested in poetry, go into your local bookstore, close your eyes, pick literally ANYTHING off the shelf, and you'll be rewarded with something better. Find poetry that ignites something deeper than a sense of YOLO.

This is shallow "Instagram poetry" - insipid verses dressed up in a beautiful package. There is nothing original here, just tired clichés about love and freedom. It offers feel-good platitudes lacking deeper meaning or insight. This is the junk food of poetry, the stuff of sappy greeting cards. Those seeking meaningful poetry should close their eyes in a bookstore and pick anything else off the shelf.

I had semi-high hopes for this poetry, which is why I'm regretful to say I was really disappointed. It just didn't catch my interest until the end, to which I was already done with the book and hoping it would be over.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful. It's all I want to keep saying really. I really loved these poems and will be reading more from Atticus in the future. It's not quite as raw as Rupi Kaur, but it's so beautifully written and so much has me writing it down to remember. In love.

Il s'agit de mon premier recueil de poésie contemporaine et en plus en Anglais. Je suivais son compte sur Instagram depuis peu, mais que j'aimais déjà beaucoup. Alors là je peux que c'est un véritable coup de cœur, j'ai été tellement touché par certains de ces poèmes que j'ai versé parfois une larme ou esquisser un sourire. Ces poèmes sont touchants, vrai, sincère, mystique et surtout attachant. Le mélange avec les photos en noir et blanc donne un aspect de rêverie, comme une bulle, un instant. J'ai qu'une hâte c'est de lire tout ces recueils et de me replonger de nouveau dans celui-ci.

This is my first collection of contemporary poetry and more in English. I followed her account on Instagram recently, but I already liked a lot. Then I can really love it, I was so touched by some of these poems that I sometimes shed a tear or sketch a smile. These poems are touching, true, sincere, mystical and especially endearing. The mixture with the black and white photos gives an aspect of reverie, like a bubble, a moment. I'm just looking forward to reading all these books and going back into this one again.

So I went into this book with no idea of who the author is or where they started. For background, I have been on a major poetry kick this year. I have been devouring books of poetry faster than I can find new authors. This book had some amazing moments for me, and some eh moments. It was a super quick and light read. I spent less than an hour to go through the entire thing. I loved the pictures as I thought they were beautiful, but I didn't love that there were so many of them in between poems as I felt like they were almost using it as filler. About 90 % of the poems were incredibly short, averaging about one sentence in length. However, the ones I liked really stuck with me. I think it was an overall really great collection, just maybe not my cup of tea.
