nothing new; the book was quite a hit or miss. i liked a few poems, but most of them were just surface level. again, nothing new.

The first thing you sent me were fireworks. Sparks of light and color over a bridge to nowhere. I was already in love when we met that summer; I belonged to someone else. To make room for you, I had to ask the world for permission, but every answer was a dead end. But who am I to blame them for telling me what I already knew?

So, I danced around you like a storm, white light against the cool black sky, like strobe lights flickering on and off. I said we could be something, you and me. I said so much and meant it, but never proved it to you, did I? We both know what my word was worth, you and me both.

You took my hand under a Ferris wheel, spitting light, spinning lies. You dazzled me, you know. You were incandescent. I don't think we could have been anything, not really. But isn't it something to wonder?”

Lang Leav once again has woven a beautiful tapestry of words that will leave you thinking about your own life. Although there were some I didn’t love, for the most part they were amazing.

Another well-written poetry book of unraveling as a woman. The process of learning to move on from disappointments and letting yourself evolve holistically, again. This is an empowering piece that as always, everyone can relate to. Though some are only a sentence long, her words always hit the core of my emotions.

Also, I love the cover - it matches the covers of her previous works Sea of Strangers and Sad Girls. 

I love poetry and am a poet myself that's why Lang's new book of how powerful I can become as a woman, a poet and a human being was a blessing.

Another Lang Leav book I couldn’t put down. An array of poems for everyone. Seemed to not have one common theme but I loved them each individually.

"Love looks pretty on you, and you should wear it with pride."
I really liked, almost loved this collection of mini prose and poems. Some of them went straight to the target- where it hurts the most, where it touches your heart, where you feel recognised and accepted by the words of one who felt just the same.

Some were a bit too personal for me- intended for the writers facing the world- much like reading an intimate diary which was not intended for anyone's eyes.

Some were a tad bland like I couldn't have cared less for them.

Most were perfect, simply, absolutely perfect. reminding me why, oh, why I just love Lang Leav. I was disheartened to see how Goodreads community seems to have lost their interest in her books. Regardlessly, here's to seeing her write more, as no one quite does it as Lang Leav.

Lang Leav does it again! I don't know why people get so bent out of shape for the various degrees of poetic self-expression, but once more I'm baffled by the dim quality people approach prose and how quick they are to cry, "This is not poetry!" to something that is merely not their cup of tea. It's such an odd quality to possess, but we're not here to talk about that, are we? 

Love Looks Pretty on You is another beautiful and simply told release to add to Leav's ever-growing collection. As always, her prose is light and fast to the point, without lacking any weight of emotion. I cannot help but to always marvel at the quality and impact that so few words could ever possess, and Lang Leav is certainly one of the leaders of her generation of poets. This isn't "Tumblr Poetry" (I will forever scoff at such a term--who are you guys kidding?!), it is one woman raising her voice and expressing herself through prose and I really and truly respect Leav for it.

While not every release by Leav has been my cup of tea--I wasn't hugely impressed by her full length novel, a while back--I still find myself continuously intrigued by how she expresses her thoughts. I'm in awe at how full of grace she is while baring her soul to readers. That's such an odd way to put it, I think, but it's really all I can come up with.

There were quite a few standouts in this collection but because of its short length, and the fact that it is poetry, I won't list them. Only because it takes away the experience of Love Looks Pretty on You and, if we're being honest, I'd end up listing 90% of the collection which would defeat the purpose of my highlights.

As always, Lang Leav's prose is deeply moving and upfront; a quick read that gives readers a glimpse at what has shaped her life. She is the type of poet who demands your attention and admiration; like all good poets, reading her work is not unlike listening to a friend's confessional. Love Looks Pretty on You connects with readers just the same as her prose always had--effortlessly and honestly.

Filled with wisdom and encouragement, every single page is a testament to the power of words, and the impact they can have on the relationships you build with others.
