A lot of times, in my book choices, I like to read books that aren’t really for my age-group. I have been reading books for “adult” adults since junior high and for the most part I enjoy them. Well this one I didn’t enjoy so much. Not that it wasn’t a good book, because I feel like Emily Giffin is very talented and had a nice voice for her main female character, but the topic overall I just didn’t really like.

Obviously I knew what it was going to be about when I picked it up, but I guess I found it hard to get into, because I had never been in that kind of situation to even know where to begin or how to relate.

One issue I had with the book is that I didn’t really like any of the characters. The character I liked the most, Leo, was the guy you weren’t supposed to like and yet I found myself rooting for him and Ellen the whole time. I found Ellen to be a bit drab and wishy-washy, Margot to be so over-the-top and petty, and Andy to be too perfect… honestly who wants to root for perfect?

I will say that I liked the beginning, but became disinterested toward the middle, and got a bit more interested toward the end. It took me about a month to get through, which in my mind doesn’t make it a book I would recommend or ever want to read again.

Overall, I think Emily Giffin has talent and I will truly give her another shot when I get a bit older. This book didn’t really do it for me and I don’t have too much to say about it, other than that I’m really glad I managed to finish it.

           i was lowkey disappointed by the ending cause i really thought she was gonna end up with leo, but whatever makes her happy is all that matters.

i did not enjoy this book at all. the main character was insufferable and when she was talking about her trauma, she kept saying that trauma of other people aren't THAT significant compared to hers. like what?

I am usually a fan of Emily Giffin, but I was so incredibly bored by this book. Leo basically is the most undeveloped character and as someone who is driven by characters, I was not entertained. Even if I was driven by plot, I would also have not been entertained.

A classic "what if the one that got away one day came back?" story. Definitely not the best one of those I've read but not the worst either. This book deals pretty accurately with the residual feelings and "what ifs" that come with any failed romance and the slippery slope they can take you down. After giving in to simply holding hands with her ex, Ellie' s betrayal quickly escalates to the point of almost losing everything. This book is definitely not an escape from reality type. If you want that, go with Something Blue!

I found this to be an interesting book....the age old question of "how do I know HE'S the one"....some parts predictable, some parts a little far fetched and convenient...but overall a good read.

FINALLY! After struggling to see what the hub-bub was with Something Borrowed and Something Blue, and then seeing a bit of the light with Baby Proof, I finally see what the big deal is with LTOYW!! I thought the story was great - all the way up until the ending. I like the way she ended the book up until that last paragraph where Ellen got a bit "philosophical." It just wasn't the best note for the story to end on in my opinion. But the book was light years better than any other Giffin book I've read.
