Right. Okay. So I was just supposed to do a cover reveal, and then the lovely Lucien Burr offered me an ARC copy of this in our less-than-formal emails (Lucien, I am so sorry that you were forced to read my half-asleep babbling. Love you for the patience, though) and I was like… yeah, man, hand it over [insert grabby hands here]. As I’m writing this, it’s just about 10 pm, and, man, I’m at work. I am at my JOB! That isn’t even the weirdest part of my introduction to this review?? I was in Discord VC reading this, and there was a priest-adjacent man in there with me… I had to very casually explain that I was reading a priest x demon erotica, to which he said, “It’s like Brokeback Mountain but religious.”

I snorted so hard it hurt :)

Anyway, the review: I knew that this was an erotica going into it, so I was not at all phased by just how shamelessly horny Prince of Lust is. I’ve read Burr’s The Teras Trials, and as such, I am no stranger to the religious trauma and shame that he writes into his work alongside explicit sexual scenes. Burr also warned me that there was very little plot here, if any at all, and, as someone who occasionally writes smut in my free time, I wasn’t bothered.

I absolutely loved this. I finished this in silence in front of my best friend, aside from the occasional, quiet murmur of “Jesus H. Christ” or “Holy fucking shit.” Prince of Lust only furthered my desire to want to gnaw on Burr’s brilliant brain and his writing. There is something absolutely beautiful in how unapologetically queer and erotic this is, something so intriguing and, perhaps, addicting in the way Burr writes.

This is officially my second 5-star read of the year, and I’m going to shove this book into the hands of every monsterfucker I know on March 1st. 5/5 stars across the board; I’ll be reading this again.
