I hate this book so much. Okay, maybe not so much as hate but I do dislike it with a great amount.

First of all, that cover is so unexpected that it didn’t help my great dislike for this book at all. Emma Mills’s book covers were always soooo pretty and this one was just heavily disappointing.

Then we get on to the story which is mediocre to say the least. I’d appreciate a mediocre plot if and only if the characters were at least likable. But alas, Nina, the protagonist was such an annoying little piece of creature, I hated her so much. Like I don’t even know where to begin with my hatred for this little prick.

And let’s not even get to the part where they talk about their Kingdom fantasies—it’s a game that Nina and her sisters invented back when they were little kids. And it’s a part of the story that’s completely unnecessary, 

The only redeeming factor here are some of the other characters, especially Joydeep and Sasha. I wish the whole book revolved around them and not Nina and Jamie. Besides, Nina didn’t even deserve Jamie. I thought maybe she’d be able to redeem herself towards the end, but no. I still hated her and I was frowning every which way when they got together—a part that should have been happy and not at all disappointing.

The plot was a disgusting let down. The characters were meh, especially Nina who had no character growth whatsoever. And the whole thing, from the cover to the end was just annoying.

There’s one thing that I do like, though—the fact that the musical artists from other Emma Mills’s books were featured in this book as well. I like that part. 

Overall, an absolute NO NO.

Ok I ALMOST bawled my eyes off in this one. Just almost. But I did finish it in one go like I always do when it comes to Emma Mills' books.

I dont particularly like Nina Conrad, the protagonist of this story about 4 friends doing a radio show as a class assignment. Featured in the team is Jamie, Nina's childhood-friend-turned-stranger-turned-friend. But hell, how I love the overall vibe. So easy to read, and so many laugh out loud moments! Again, friendship game is on point. Legit heartwarming moments. Ultimate soft-boy Jamie is everything. EVERYTHING! 

Annoyed with Joydeep at first, then it became ok at the end. Sasha was great. The sisters were great. Dan was an amazing person. I love all the characters actually. 

I also love how Emma Mills have created her own universe now. It becomes sooo meta! 

I don't really like how some things were just faded out without really a proper revelation. Like Jamie's background, or some development with Dad? Most things seem easily resolved too, like... Things just got super convenient around the end. Enjoyably so, but I wish it's more complex than that. 

Now that I finish all if her books, how the hell am I supposed yo move on and reading somethinh else!?!

I had a good feeling about this book and I'm so glad it lived up to what I was hoping for. Lucky Caller was super cute and fun! I really liked seeing the radio team get together and grow into becoming friends and seeing their dynamic and their friendship grow. This gave me such happy feelings and was really fun to read!

I really enjoyed this read. The one thing I love about emma miles books is how they focused on friendship and this friendship good developed in such a fun way. I thought the structure of this book the radio station was a really fun structure for it. I also really was invested in the mystery that was the through line of the read.I also was super invested in the step parent relationship the occurred in this novel. I also really liked the blast from the past romance. Such a fun read. Def high on my favorite reads from emma miles.

I have read This Adventure Ends and Famous In A Small Town and while I enjoyed both of those books immensely, this book didn't bring me as much happiness and enjoyments as the other two have. The writing style was pure Emma Mills which I have always enjoyed but I think the main problem I had with this book was the characters. At first I loved Nina, I loved her sarcasm and quick wit, and found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions with some of the things that came out of her mouth. As I continued reading though, I didn't like her as much. She was very evasive and lied quite a bit, even if that meant hurting other people when I feel she should have been more upfront and confrontational about things. After reading about half of the book I was so annoyed with the way she acted and the way she went about things, I almost put the book down. The romance was also pretty meh for me only because it dragged on and on in the book. I can appreciate a slow burn romance but this got to be a little too much.

I know a main thing in this book was to showcase family drama and absentee parents but holy moly I really didn't like the father. I guessed way back in the book that he was going to flake and I hate how the ending left so much unanswered between him and his kids.
