Things We Left Behind Knockmeout #3

Lucy Score2023
There was only one woman who could set me free. But I would rather set myself on fire than ask Sloane Walton for anything. Lucian Rollins is a lean, mean vengeance-seeking mogul. On a quest to erase his father's mark on the family name, he spends every waking minute pulling strings and building an indestructible empire. The more money and power he amasses, the safer he is from threats. Except when it comes to the feisty small-town librarian that keeps him up at night... Sloane Walton is a spitfire determined to carry on her father's quest for justice. She'll do that just as soon as she figures out exactly what the man she hates did to--or for-her family. Bonded by an old, dark secret from the past and the dislike they now share for each other, Sloane trusts Lucian about as far as she can throw his designer-suited body. When bickering accidentally turns to foreplay, these two find themselves not quite regretting their steamy one-night stand. Once those flames are fanned, it seems impossible to put them out again. But with Sloane ready to start a family and Lucian refusing to even consider the idea of marriage and kids, these enemies-to-lovers are stuck at an impasse. Broken men break women. It's what Lucian believes, what he's witnessed, and he's not going to take that chance with Sloane. He'd rather live a life of solitude than put her in danger. But he learns the hard way that leaving her means leaving her unprotected from other threats. It's the second time he's ruthlessly cut her out of his life. There's no way she's going to give him a third chance. He's just going to have to make one for himself.

I’m actually kind of sad to see this series end. That’s probably why I put off reading it for so long. But like I expected this was my favorite book in the series. Lucien and Sloane I think will always have a special place in my heart. Their story played out perfectly for me. It was timed well, didn’t draw out anything. Just literally perfect. I love it so much and while I’m sad it’s over I’m so happy to have read this series.

If you want a big, strong, sexy man from Knockmeout you have to be attacked and or kidnapped first. Just a rule.

Much much much better than the 2nd one in the series. Having the history and flashbacks made Lucian & Sloane’s story my favorite of the three.

Out of all 3 books in the series definitely the most smuttiest! I loved and enjoyed this one. I had been waiting to hear about Lucian since the first book! 🫶

Way better than the last book. I thought it was a bit rushed in some spots but was happy it tied all loose ends from all 3 books and was a really quick read! Finished in a few days!

It’s taken me awhile to read this last book because I didn’t want to accept that there are no more Knockemout books after this. These books are like rays of sunshine, happiness and love in novel form. There’s romance, friendship, sex, action, heartbreak, pain and beauty all wrapped up in these pages. You can’t help but fall in love with the characters. I cried, I laughed, I gasped, I cheered. I’m so sad this is the last book, but love how everything was wrapped up. Definitely recommend.

4 stars for suit daddy I’ve been waiting for Lucien and Sloane’s book since THINGS WE NEVER GOT OVER. The electrifying hatred these two had for each other was steaming off the pages and I knew that they would have the best banter going into their book. While I did enjoy Lucien and Sloane’s relationship and how it unfolded in this book, there were parts to this book that just felt… anticlimactic. There was a solid 100 or so pages that I personally thought could be left out, but overall I still really enjoyed luciensloane’s story. Plus that epilogue! It warmed my heart and had me smiling from ear to ear. *Thanks to the publisher for providing this ARC via Edelweiss.*

This was the best way that this series could end. Steamy at parts but full of love at the same time. It showed that we will do whatever for those that we love. Shout out Lucy Score for this one. Seriously.

Lucian Rollins and Sloane Walton have been circling around each other since they were kids, but tragedy and misunderstanding kept them apart for years. However, with all of the danger that has been surrounding their friends, Lucian and Sloane have been thrown together in multiple situations, causing them to realize that the attraction they have felt for one another may be more, but there are still so many secrets and so much history keeping them from figuring out what everyone else around them already knows.

Things We Left Behind is a very good ending to an enjoyable series taking place in Knockemout. Both protagonists are damaged and dealing with the aftermath of Lucian's abusive childhood. The secrets of the past are slowly revealed in flashback chapters throughout the first half of the book. The best parts of the story are the times when Lucian and Sloane let down their guard and enjoy each other. However, there are pacing issues with this book. The long first three quarters of the book frequently repeat the reasons why the two main characters are apart, and the suspense part of the plot only takes place in the last quarter of the narrative. Overall, though, even with these issues, Things We Left Behind is an entertaining finale to this delightful series.

I’ve been avoiding writing this review because then it means it’s really over. This series surprised me in the best ways. There are few small towns you read about that are so inclusive on a variety of levels. Sexuality, race, backgrounds, etc. I think Knockemout may be my favorite fictional place.

Lucy writes in a way where you get to keep up with all get characters even after their book is done. Watching the Knockemout men grow up and evolve was so much fun. It really feels like people you know because of how much they’re all there.

The friendships are so genuine and honestly enviable. The way they’re always there and have these quirks they lean into in times of stress. I just love it so much.

Now, Suit Daddy and Sloane. Admittedly I was least excited about their story, but I think it was my favorite. The slow burn of 20+ years and the pure angst between them 🥵 The dual timeline was heartbreaking, but in the best way because you learn so much about Lucian! There is not a single word I would have changed in this entire book. It was all necessary and so perfectly done.

Lucy is there anyway we can convince you to give us a Stefan and Jeremiah book?! Please 😭😭😭😭

“I like being alone,” I argued. Being alone meant not having to pretend to be okay. Being alone meant not having to be messy and emotional in front of any witnesses.
