The book is exactly as the title states a very short introduction. Besides introducing the concept of utopia, the author uses the few pages of this introduction to make the argument that utopia is not merely a modern concept or literary device but is also a tool of humanity used throughout its history. 

Although the content is very insightful and well written, the author seems introduced so many writers and thinkers that the text lacked some clarity and some focus at certain points. It would have been better to list some names and focus on less authors in more detail. 

The real value of the short introduction is more located in the later chapter of the book
