Bizenghast follows a young couple who accidentally make a contract with the dead and the only way to be free is to release all the spirits in the mausoleum. The concept is original and interesting, but I expected a little more from the execution. It’s very fast paced and just dives into the story with little to no background or character development. Although this is the first volume, I found myself just trying to speed through it. I can say that the art is beautiful and I like the overall concept, but I’m not sure if it’s working for me. I don’t know if I’ll continue the story or not, but who knows, it might get better.
