This one was better than the first one - I liked the plot better, and I felt a better grasp of Hamish's character this time around too. 

BUT... Towards the end there was yet another super cringey line about a female character deserving to be hit, and ... Yes, I know this book wasn't written recently, but come on. 

I guess I'll give up on Hamish for now. Or beg someone to rewrite for a modern audience!
