Reylor's Lament An Empire Saga Novella
Reviews

1) Book 1: Two Thousand Years ★★1/2 I received a copy of this book via the publisher, The Parliament House, in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! In no way does this affect my rating or review. All included quotes have been taken from an ARC and may not match the finished publication. Content Warning: Scheming an Abduction, Explicit Adult Content It’s no doubt that Reylor in Two Thousand Years is a straight up creep. I disliked him so ardently that I believe it jaded my entire opinion of the book. Other than being a shady rapist figure, not much else is revealed about who he is, or what made him that way. Reylor’s Lament offers a deeper glimpse into his past, and actually made me feel some empathy for him--keyword, empathy, not sympathy. While fate dealt him a hard blow, Reylor still reacted selfishly, and rather cruelly, at times. While I still don’t like him, I understand much more about Reylor. Much of what Reylor does in Two Thousand Years feels unprecedented, and he comes across as very one-dimensional. With reading this novella, everything feels like it falls into place and makes much more sense. It’s definitely worth a read if you also felt like I did towards his character in Two Thousand Years.
