This was my second time reading this book, and I must say it was just as good as the first time. The story starts off strong—all the character introductions are well-written and give me a sense of their character arcs—and ends just as strong. Baz and Seraphina didn’t start off very likable, but by the end, I loved them both so much.

I really felt like the characters were so well-written and unique, and their character arcs all linked together so well. I especially loved the dynamic between Seraphina and Samara.

I found the setting to be very intriguing, and the world-building was so intricate. The plot really did a good job of showcasing the amazing world the author had built. I loved traveling on a pirate ship with Baz (I just adore Baz in general) and I definitely 

I was captivated from start to finish (okay but can we talk about that ending??? So good!! I seriously cannot wait to start The Secret Library). 

The one shortcoming—the thing that keeps this from being a five star read—is the sexualization of women throughout the novel. Almost any time I female character was introduced, her boob size was described. I just wasn’t a fan of that being the first visual I got of any woman on the page. There are so many other traits women can have, and so many other things to notice. Was boob size really necessary?

Other than that, this book kept me on the edge of my seat! I turned page after page after page, and I loved every minute of it!

I absolutely loved this book! I am a huge fan of sea-adventures, so I was super excited for this, and it did most certainly not disappoint! The story was engaging, and I could relate to Amara. There was action around every corner, and I absolutely lived for the slow burn romance in this story.
