Unfortunately this attempt of an erotic romance in a tropical island paradise left me pretty cold. The success of similar stories, i.e. 50 Shades of Grey, is based on a controlling man who uses sexual domination, but also respects a woman's right to say no, and offer an out (or safe word). Well, the main character in this novel actually denies his partner a safe word and does not listen when she tries to stop him, but OF COURSE she really does like it. Everything is hunky dory. Clayton, the male lead, exhibits all the aspects of a classic abuser: jealousy, rage, hitting, and control. Instead of feeling sexy, this book made me feel like I should report a crime.

This is my problem with this book in a nutshell: "But behind the anger, behind the insane jealousy and possessiveness, behind it all, I know it's because he cares." PUH-LEASE.

I received this novel during a giveaway and was firstly quite surprised to see just how short it actually was. Based on the description as well as various reviews I’ve seen, it sparked my interest and promised to show me a juicy romance with a perfect (and stunning) setting. And how cute is its cover? I mean, really?! Totally cute and oh, what I wouldn’t give to be in such a paradise. 

I mean really, who doesn’t want an escape?

As you probably could guess this is a romance/new adult novel and if that isn’t your cup of tea (or if you’re still a little nugget!) this isn’t recommended for you. Mad Love’s plot starts off right away with our virginal narrator and her two best friends (who are happily together) spending a large chunk of change on a vacation that promises relaxation, fun and a ton of beautiful scenery. This comes after the lead quits law school, dumps her boring fiance and needs an escape.

Enter exotic getaway, potential (hot) mysterious male lead and endless possibilities.

I recommend this little read for a day at the beach if you're looking for a new romance novel to sweep you off your feet.
