In The Vow, which is the companion novel to "The Auction" by Maggie Cole. In The Vow, this story basically picks up from where the first book ends. So you most definitely will want to read the first book first before diving into this one here. I really was curious to see how Maggie Cole was finish up the Duet. I personally ADORE duets, when done well, they can be so full of depth and growth. But honestly, I wasn't a fan of some aspects of this one. I still felt like it was a solid read for sure, but the heroine was flakey at times. So I honestly struggled with her and she is the reason I had to lower my rating on this one. I do think that if you enjoyed the first book, then you most definitely will enjoy this one. I do understand if this duet isn't for everyone. Its completely different from anything that I have read from this author before so it was quite interesting to see what she develops on this one.

I won't be doing a summary on this one as I don't want to spoil it. There are reviews that do share some aspects of this one, but I do think you can easily go into this one blind. So while I had some issues I honestly really enjoyed this one. So basically this is where the grovels happens throughout the WHOLE book and its not needed to last that long. The heroine is so stubborn and batty at times. So she knows the man she married, she knows he is ruthless at times, so why did it take her so long to forgive him? I honestly don't know. Its really confusing to me, but she frequently hurts the hero all throughout the story and I just couldn't keep up with it. My main issue is that she keeps saying that she accepts him and loves him for who he is, but she really doesn't. She just wants him to not be who he is, and that is what she has to come to terms with. Much of the delay and drama is on her own. She really has her own issues that she needs to come to terms with but in the process hurts him. Now I do think through most of the story, she doesn't realize this. She is pretty clueless on this. So in some ways you can understand it from her point of view, however, I don't think it justified how she is constantly pushing him away and never listening to him about her safety and then turns to her manager knowing exactly how the hero would react to it and then act all offended by it. So I just felt like the heroine needed a cold wake up call and the hero was way more patient with her than he should have been. Yes he wrongs her, but I mean it takes months and months for her to come to terms with it. I did enjoy other aspects of the story and the club scene was interesting, not as dark as I was led to believe though. It seemed a pretty tame scene haha but I do think this scene was essential for this couple so I am glad that we got to see how it really assisted them a bit on the issues that they were having with each other.
