Okay so this book is very much a mid-series book. Not a whole lot of major things happen, but a lot of set-ups for future stuff happens. I think if you’re not a huge fan of the characters you won’t enjoy this book that much, but luckily for me I adore (most of) them and I would’ve been happy with anything.

Out of all the things I wanted to see happen in this book, only one of them did which made me disappointed but that’s my own fault for having too many hopes. Some things happens that I would never have expected which left me with unhappy feelings. But also some things unexpected things happened that I liked and was happy about. 

I feel like none of the questions from the first book were answered, and now we have even more 😂 I have no idea how Maggie will fit everything into one final book but I’ll have faith. 

The ending was definitely a wild ride, I’m gonna need a while to asses my feelings on it. Book three definitely can’t come soon enough. I’m gonna have to drown myself in pynch fanfics for the foreseeable future.

do i remember why i enjoyed the raven cycle? did i even enjoy the raven cycle? did i have a favourite boy and who was it? did i ever enjoy stiefvater's writing?

i honestly cannot remember.

this reads more like a standard urban fantasy than whatever made the original series charming and atmospheric. perfectly boring, perfectly mediocre.

i am still not sure about the expansion of the cast since jordan / hennessy seem good in theory but not in practice. but i still enjoyed plotlines focused on the brothers.

also oh yes, don't even get me started on the peta level ecoterrotism. i think i nearly lost an eyeball inside my skull. 

all in all, lucky for stiefvater that i was stuck on a plane for 3 hours and i already had this book on me.

This book started out with big TRC vibes and quickly spiraled back into The Bell Jar vibes in an even bigger way than the first book did. It made me feel things, but I don’t know what they were. This book is the opposite of a sweetmetal but in a good way. I think.

i have zero doubts that some people will like this but the entire thing was completely forgettable for me. 
not sure i'll read any more maggie books after the last installment in this series.
