⭐️3 In all honesty, the book was fine. Fine is the best word to describe this book. By no means exceptional or excellent, but certainly not terrible. Despite enjoying Duncan and Retta's dates and thinking they were cute, did I get giddy about them throughout? No, the answer is no. In spite of this, I found this book mildly enjoyable and lighthearted, especially considering how short it is. Overall, a perfectly fine book, but somewhat forgettable after a while.

this was so cute

what do you do when you find out your cousin is marrying your ex-boyfriend?? first send a two-minute voicemail panicking to your best friend, second look for a fake boyfriend to go with you to the wedding of course! When Retta finds out about the wedding she starts to go on blind dates to try to find someone before the wedding but when none of them work out, she decides to ask her next-door work neighbor to be her fake boyfriend in exchange for some parking spots and her scone recipe. i thought it was SO cute!!! they start to go on dates to get to know each other so none at the wedding can tell they're faking but they soon find themselves unable to keep it strictly professional like they previously agreed,, i mean seriously their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS!! i adored all their scenes together, especially the first two dates!! they were so cute i couldn't handle it!!! there honestly wasn't a part of this book i didn't enjoy!! it was such a fun fast read and i loved it a lot!! i can't wait for gwen and anthony's book!!!

so freaking cute, read it in one sitting and absolutely loved it🥹 (i wish it was longerrr)

A solid 3.5 stars Was this my favourite book ever? Maybe not. But it made me crave baked goods and gave me the good old fake relationship trope I love so much so I was a happy bunny. Rhett's was hard working and funny. And annoyed she'd have to attend the wedding of her ex (to her cousin!) so she obviously needed a date to prove to her family she was A-OK and umbothered in the slightest by the new development. The perfect solution arrived in the form of her new neighbour at work. Duncan owned the boxing gym and was very attractive. Add in the fact they are arguing over some parking spaces at their workplace so what better solution than have him act as her boyfriend in exchange for those parking spaces? Ok, it was a ridiculous concept but don't look at it too closely and it totally works. I think this book fell down a bit because the romance didn't quite sweep me away enough. I liked then together but I needed a touch more spark to get me swooning over their romance. I still really enjoyed it and would say others check it out. Especially if you're fans of the fake relationship trope. It's a great fun and quick read and I finished it in one evening.

SWEET, DELICIOUS FUN! Make A Scene by Mimi Grace was an absolutely gorgeous book! Lovable characters, comedic moments, fake dating, along with the cutest cover ever, made this book so much enjoyable. I loved every single second of reading Make a Scene, and I highly recommend adding it your tbr piles asap! Many thanks to the author for sending me an e-arc in exchange of an honest review. ❤ I rated it with 4.5/5 stars. I’ve not read a lot of books with the fake dating trope, but I think I’ve found a favorite in Make A Scene :’) I knew I’d love reading it the moment I saw the cover and the synopsis. The book exceeded all my exceptions, and I’m really happy that I got the chance to read it. Retta and Duncan were the most swoon-worthy couple ever! Their chemistry was evident from the very first chapter, and I loved seeing them grow together throughout their (not-so) fake relationship. Their dates were fluffy and adorable, *insert infinite amount of heart-eyed emojis here* – I wanted more and more of their moments together. As individual characters, Retta and Duncan were well-written as well. It’s rare to find charming and inspirational female leads in romance novels, so I loved reading about Retta! Duncan Gilmore is definitely book-boyfriend material. His sweet nature and I loved seeing his deeply-rooted insecurities about relationships fade away throughout the book – a positive effect of the time he spent with Retta. In one word, Retta and Duncan were made for each other. The friendships that were portrayed in the book made reading Make A Scene so much better! I love how relatable Retta’s moments with her best friend were so relatable, with her sending SOS texts at the time of existential crises lol. And by boy Anthony, Duncan’s best friend, he was such a softie. I can’t wait for his book! Commitment issues were also perfectly talked about in the book. There was also a positive representation of divorce among two of the secondary characters, which I think is very rare in romance novels. The importance of therapy got mentioned in Make a Scene too, so I basically got a little bit of everything in the book! If you’re a for a sweet and fast read, definitely pick Make A Scene up!
