This book is the legit definition of instalove. It took place in a week. I read it in a day and was somehow 1/7 of the complete timeline of this romance. Insanity. Now I appreciate the series giving some representation of the deaf community, I really enjoyed that aspect of it. But the Dad, yeah screw him honestly, was also a real aspect of this book with interracial couples. Just the execution wasn’t what I wanted for it. Also agin the timeframe is still the only thing I can remember to this book and how the guy goes from playboy to lover boy in five minutes.

I loved this book. Watching their love story grow and then her believe he never loved her even though he did. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but the happy ending tied it all together.

Summary: It’s finally Ryker Lee’s senior year and yet he is surprised to find himself unfulfilled by the parties and football. Aurora McClay is new to Lawton, joining her divorced father and overprotective twin brother. Aurora is deaf, and navigating a new school is daunting, but an instant connection between Aurora and Ryker Lee changes everything. 

Review: This book is different than I expected and that is a good thing. I felt that Glines wrote Aurora’s character with a lot of respect for her identity as a deaf person and I appreciated that she refused to infantilize or exclude Aurora. I think that the cochlear implant conversation was well done and interesting. One thing that was new for this series is that Glines explored the topic of small-town racism. Aurora’s father disapproves of his white daughter dating Ryker, for no reason other than his race. A highlight of the book was Ryker and his father’s discussion about what it means to live life as a black man in the south and the complexities of an interracial relationship. One issue of this book is the pacing - the entire plot occurs over the course of two weeks and it is undeniable that Ryker and Aurora were caught in the ‘insta-love’ trap though Glines did a good job portraying the sweetness of young love.

5 spectacularly so right stars, well.. honestly since I decided to read the whole series... I was gonna revue it after I finish it all, but after this marvelously written story I just have to write my revue, because it's really more than worth it... I really loved how the author discussed the girl being def, and how this didn't stop her from accomplishing her dreams, and how she was really strong, even much stronger than her brother, who... At this point... Most of the People thought he was normal and even better than her.. just because she is disabled.. although they hated him for other reasons which were that his father has controlled his life totally, and didn't let him choose and decide what he wants for his own future... The story also contained some situations which really happen with people who are having disabilities in daily life.. like for instance when someone talks to a person who is having kind of disability like blindness or deafness they just talk so loudly and at this point they think that people who are deaf would probably somehow hear them.. or they'd think that blind people can't hear so they just talk loudly... this story discussed some of the most important topics, like: disability, racism, and sacrifice, it showed us so wonderfully and clearly how the heroine fought for her boyfriend even if he was black, though her father has disagreed, and how the hero.. on the other hand fought for her.. and was ready to do anything for her.. and sacrifice everything, he changed his personality completely and became a really better person.. and.. Most importantly he didn't think that her being deaf would make her any different, there wonderful love was so innocent and pure.. and it didn't prevent them from achieving what they want and enjoying there lives, well... now I could say that this book was one of my most favourite reads in 2020... I definitely highly recommend it...

 One week was all it took to change my life. I’d been dropped off at my father’s house, never realizing that in seven days I would be a different person. That I’d want things I didn’t think I cared about. I found out I was stronger than I’d believed. Braver than I would have ever guessed. I’d also learned confidence I didn’t have before. All of this because of Ryker.. He’d made me want more, gave me the desire to step outside my comfort zone, to trust myself and others; but most importantly he made me embrace my differences, not let them stand in my way. I had used my voice without even thinking about it with the airline attendants and even the elderly lady who sat beside me in first class on the nonstop flight to Raleigh.

Abbi Glines has release another book in The Field Party series. And I am super excited! Like I just love Abbi Glines and I never get disappointed at all. 
Making A Play will introduce Nash Lee cousin, Ryker Lee, and he falls hard. Ryker Lee is very known as player in high school. He prefers especially since he has football to focus. But things alway change when you meet the one which will be Aurora (Hunter twin sister). She definitely change the game for Ryker. And he has no problem with it. But there will be some complications for him with Aurora. His reputation will put his relationship at risk. And he will face some prejudice too with Aurora family. Life get hard but Ryker is determined to make it through and have Aurora with him.
Aurora is intelligent girl that people need to stop underestimate her. So what, she is deaf. She may be deaf but she is driven and smart that she can make it. People need to stop judging. Plus, she has Ryker falling for her. It is unexpected but she loves it no matter what people think. And there are people talking. Oh well.
Making A Play will bring two teenager together no matter what obstacle they face.

Great fifth book in the series. Love the field party series. The last one wasn’t my favorite, so I was a tad bit worried but I really enjoyed this book. I love Ryker and Aurora and the story. Only thing I wish that the ending was a bit longer and not wrapped up so quickly. Overall great story. I’m hopping for Asa or Hunter’s book next. ❤️

Let’s take a moment to appreciate these lovely covers. Okay, great. Now that we’ve don’t that we can move on.

Ultimately, I do like this series. The universe is decently done and the characters are usually relatively likeable. I will say that almost all the male POVS are bad boys who hook up with girls left and right and the girls are almost always innocent girls who happen to be gorgeous and kind hearted. These are the girls that have the man-whores tripping over their left pink toes the entirety of the books. 

Anyways, I actually ENJOY the cheesiness of these books most of the time. But this one was just SO cringey I actually had to stop and press my lips together on multiple occasions. The couple falls insanely in love in the first two seconds they meet one another. WHAT??? Insta-love is one thing I just cannot handle. I don’t care how hot someone is, I will not be falling in love with them the second I meet them (exceptions to this go only to Theo James). 

But this one simply was not executed well enough to be enjoyable and have Type B writing style. Not to say it wasn’t enjoyable in its entirety; I was still entertained. It’s just that it constantly made me cringe and feel almost stupid for reading it???

My favorite books were the second and fourth book although the first one was good to the point of making me want to read the rest. I remember not really liking the third book but this one was probably the worst. If I can get my hands on the sixth book after it comes out for a low price, I’ll still read it. Mostly because the covers are to die for and look good on my shelf.
