I enjoyed this SO MUCH. If you like manga and you like Jane Austen you may find this very enjoyable. The characters depictions had the same spirit I imagined in my head when reading the original text. I'm pumped to watch the movie.

Emma might truly be my least favourite Jane Austen heroine ever. But that isn't anything against this book though. This book was beautiful, especially the art! The art in this work is so beautiful I wish I had a physical copy to drool over. I must admit that I went into this completely blind, with no knowledge of the storyline of the original novel, but it hasn't taken anything away from this experience for me. Even though this is a shortened version of the classic, the storytelling still felt comprehensive. Poor Harriet was led astray by the bossy Emma but alas she found happiness in the end.

If you're a fan of Jane Austen, I think you should pick this book up. If you love Manga or have always wanted to read one, I think you should consider picking this up. I am of both the first, being a fan of Jane Austen, and the second, always wanting to try a Manga, but never knowing where to start. This book has been sitting in my books since last year, if not before that. My reason for starting it and finishing it now was the Net Galley Book Shelf app, I remembered about it, and it piqued my interest when I saw it there. Before I go any further, I feel it needs to be said that I have never read this story before. This was my introduction to the characters and the plot of Sense & Sensibility. 

Plot

The plot of this story is juicy, and I feel it comes across in the Manga. From the first chapter, the plot intrigued me, and I wanted to know more. I feel like that was what this me all throughout the book, wanting to know more, and know where the plot was going to go next. Just because this was a Manga, didn't mean that this was short of plot and details about the story following the characters. In fact, I think this being a Manga version enhanced the plot, because we could see the characters' facile expressions and the reactions to what was happening in actual time. 

Characters

The other thing that made me fall for this book was the characters. Each Dashwood sister is written differently, and that makes them unique. They each have their flaws, and their strengths, which make them characters you want to keep reading about. The depth in the characters doesn't stop with the sisters, The men in this story also had their fair share of strengths and flaws, and these are what make you want to keep reading the novel. I enjoyed all the characters, and because I had not read a Manga before, I didn't know how the characters would come across on the page. I can now say that these characters feel just as alive as ever. 

Writing 

As with every classic novel, the writing will be what makes or breaks the story. The writing in this book feels fresh and is easy to follow. With that said, the story still feels classic, and I think the feel of Jane Austen's writing is still kept intact when you read this. I was not sure what the writing was going to be like, but from the first chapter, much like the characters and the plot, I was drawn to and engaged with the writing in the story. 

Art

The art in this book was excellent. I loved seeing the characters' expressions and how they were styled in this book..

I was really excited to read this version of Sense & Sensibility by Manga Classics! I honestly love these comic book adaptations of classic novels. Jane Austen is my all-time favorite author, and I am always happy to read adaptations of her books. I have a few classics-as-comics from various publishers (Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Fahrenheit 451) and I absolutely love them all! This is the third classic-as-comic that I have read from Manga Classics and I have been impressed with them all. I think it is really important to study the great works of literature, and adapting them into comic book format makes them super fun, quick, and easy to read. I was impressed with the book; for a shortened version of the text, the authors did a fantastic job of selecting the important parts of the text, highlighting and explaining it in a fun and easy way. I thought that the illustrations were very cute and would add helpful visualizations for younger readers. Pride and Prejudice is a very long book and this was a great condensed version: all of the major plot points were hit, making this a really accurate adaptation.

Well, this has made the classics fun!! 
This is my first Manga Classic and also my first read of Sense and Sensibility (don't judge me!)
I did get a bit confused with some of the characters, but I'm putting that down to me never reading the original lol. 

This is a fast-paced read, but I still went away feeling like I got the whole story. Plus the art work is stunning!!
Will definitely be buying these gorgeous books and reading the whole Manga Classics Collection.

After the sudden death of Mr. Dashwood, his wife and their three daughters need to move out from their property and rent new home Barton Cottage, on the property of a distant relative, Sir John Middleton. They are invited into the circle of family Middleton. They meet the family and their friend Colonel Brandon who keeps secretly admiration of younger sister Marianne Dashwood. Unfortunately, her vision of love looks completely different than for him. She's young, spontaneous and dreams about big romance with a young wealthy man who will make her the happiest woman alive. However, her older sister Elinor is the complete opposite of her. She thinks rational and doesn't dream about things impossible. She doesn't wait for a fairytale. She gave her heart to a man back home in Norland Park. He is a brother of Fanny Dashwood, wife of her step-brother, who isn't delighted about their affection. 

Short after family settles in their new house. Marianne meets a young and very handsome man John Willoughby who steals her heart. Their love grows very fast until he needs to leave her and go back to London and she never heard from him again.

I read this book a few years ago and this Manga collection of classics books is perfect to visualize the story, characters, and places but also to quickly remind yourself of the content of the book. I love it about graphic books that you can read it very quickly and it's also hard to miss an important event of the book. The drawings and graphics are very good and they represent well all characters and places in the book.
