I finished The Ivory Throne a few years back in Trivandrum in the company of relentless mosquitoes in the museum park. I loved the prose. Its chatty, essayistic. I love that book had 200 pages of references and a young handsome author. His fascination with the matrilineal system is always endearing to read and watch.

Before this, I have only tiptoed through Travancore history. Manu S.Pillai is definitely not the first person to be fascinated with uncharted depths of our history in India/Kerala, I wish more of them wrote like him.
