I recently started the Sandman series which has opened me up to the world of comics and graphic novels again and I couldn't be happier. Nomen Omen, Vol. 1 was an impulse buy at my local comic shop. I fell in love with the series' bright covers and the first chapter inside got me hooked. 

This indie graphic novel is pure gritty urban fantasy and you can tell that this was a passion project by the creators, not driven by profit (Marvel, *cough...). I fell in love with the concept of the story and all of the small details in it but the execution fell short. 

Artwork: 4/5 ⭐ The artwork was beautiful! My only gripe was some action scenes were messy in terms of not being able to tell what was going on and who was trying to kill who.

Writing: 2.5/5 ⭐Probably my least favourite aspect of the whole thing. The writing doesn't explain important parts of the story very well and the words they chose for the sound effects... bruh. 

Concept: 3.5/5 ⭐Killer concept that was messy in execution. But, alas, killer concept.
