The Wall of Winnipeg and Me A Novel

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Mariana Zapata's most beloved book, The Wall of Winnipeg and Me--now with new exclusive content! Vanessa Mazur refuses to feel bad for quitting--she knows she's doing the right thing. The thankless job of personal assistant to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans for her life, and none of them include washing extra-large underwear one more day for a man who could never find it in him to tell her good morning, congratulate her on a job well done, or wish her a happy birthday--even when she was spending it working for him. The legendary "Wall of Winnipeg" may be adored by thousands, but after two years Van has had enough. But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door begging her to come back, she's beyond shocked. Mr. Walled-Off Emotions is actually letting his guard down for once. And she's even more dumbstruck when he explains that her job description is about to become even more outrageous: something that takes the "personal" in personal assistant to a whole new level. What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

Let me just start of that I absolutely LOATHE slow burn, but this book changed it.

I love love love it so much. The first few chapters really gave me a laugh, made me have this few comments that men are so mean yet can be so dumb at the same time.

Vanessa is someone I really aspire to be honestly, as someone who has a short temper (she explicitly mentioned that she has a short temper, but she gives little credit to herself with that comment to be honest). I love her so much, she deserves the world.

For Aiden, oh my sweet behemoth of a man. He honestly reminds me of Kacchan infused with Shoto lmao, I don’t why. Maybe because in the first few chapters he’s so mean for no reason yet so nonchalant. If you like BNHA and can’t choose between Kacchan and Shoto, then read this HAHA.

There was a part though at the last chapter where the author really mentioned THAT word three times. That was the only thing that really gave me the ick, like you could’ve worded it better huhuhu. Thank goodness the spicy parts were written okay, if not, this book could’ve ended on a bad note. I honestly did not really expect the smut (was hoping it didn’t happen but ya know).

How I wish we could’ve gotten Aiden’s POV. I would pay good money to know what that man is thinking, especially his mean moments. Like why are you mean to her if you actually liked her? And when did he honestly realized he liked her? Like throughout the course of 2 years while Vanessa was working for him? Or when she quit? I have so many questions! He’s honestly an interesting case.

Overall, absolutely love this book. This really made me appreciate slow burn romances. Thank you for opening my eyes how fulfilling to read something like this Mariana Zapata.

★★★★☆ (4) “When I was a kid, I learned the hard way how expensive the truth was. Sometimes it cost you people in your life. Sometimes it cost you things in your life.
