"But she was already vast and bright and endless."

So sad, but it felt so real! Amazing!

But she was already vast and bright and endless. this was so heartbreaking:(

my rating | 4.5 stars i read the synopsis of this novella AFTER finishing it, and it was only then did i realise it was a loose spin-off of the little mermaid. with the little mermaid being one of my favourite stories as a child, it puzzles me now how i never noticed the subtle similarities while reading this novella. yet, it also goes to show how Marissa Meyer makes these classic stories her own - by adding her own sense of style and weaving the story to make it relatable yet refreshing at the same time for her readers. i am simply amazed at how good the novellas are getting and am falling in love with meyer's writing. i can't wait to read The Queen's Army before reading Cress!

Even though it's not focusing on a character from the Lunar Chronicles I still really enjoyed it. Star was a bit creepy though, because she had a slight Levana vibe. Like how she is obsessive over a guy she likes. I also don't think she handled the situation well hahah. I mean yeah those kids get to be together, but I can't stop thinking about the afterwards??? That could be bad.

** spoiler alert ** WOW this is good! It's a tiny little story, though it says 35 pages, I read it online for about, 12 pages. Very short. And really well done. It's got the original Little Mermaid down to a T, and yet it's not as sad. It's beautiful and well done, and in the end, I think Star got what she wanted. She knew she couldn't last in her body, and she still got to see space while in it. Very well done. And I loved seeing Cinder again. Now to wait until I can get my hands on Fairest.

Really adorable little read, really want to read the other books in the Lunar Chronicles now. Honestly this novella was beautiful and it is now three am, I have just finished reading Star's story and feel almost like crying. Beautiful story.
