I started following some of the big celebrity book clubs back in 2020, when the entire world got sent to their rooms indefinitely and had little else to do besides binge Netflix shows and, in my case, read. Prior to discovering these “clubs,” I was a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants reader. I just read whatever happened to pop up on whatever…whatever. I had no plan, no rhyme or reason for picking a book. Then 2020 happened, and I decided to change my ways after reading one of Reese Witherspoon’s Sunshine Book Club selections. I don’t remember what book it was, but it was a instant best-seller and highly sought after simply because Witherspoon picked it for her book club. Suddenly, my brain did an about-face and I decided to flood social media with my poorly written book reviews. Let’s face it, nobody reads my reviews. I’m fine with that, but I get a lot of “likes” because I read popular books. I’ll take it. 
	 This book was a Witherspoon book. It was her selection from December of 2021, but because I get most of my books from the library (where I get a meager 10 holds at a time), I wasn’t able to finish until April of 2022. I had some eager anticipation simply because of the title, which is rare for me. I’m not easily attracted to a title alone, but this one (the Reese lookalike on the cover was also an attracting feature) intrigued me. I wasn’t expecting the story I read. I’m not disappointed…ish…ok maybe I am. I didn’t want to read a book about a group of con artists. I wanted a loveable coming of age story, not a swindling story. To be fair, it IS a coming-of-age story. Lucky is a young woman trying to figure herself out, and she has quite a few adventures along the way. 
	It is a decent read. It flows well, the story unfolds nicely, resolves much of the conflict(s), and is wrapped up with a decent shiny bow. I just found it, well, lacking. Lacking what I’m not sure. I’d have to go back and read it again (which isn’t really possible because of that whole library situation) to identify what I feel it needs. And really, nobody really cares what I feel it really needs, so it’s a moot point. It is a decent book, so it’s worth reading.

The main character, Lucky, is morally gray but easy to sympathize with. I found her very likable and wanted to cheer her on. This book definitely had twists and I wish it had been longer! Such a good story and I look forward to reading others by the author.

Such a fun ride. Lucky is a great protagonist and I was rooting for her.

This was one of the dumbest books I’ve ever read. The plot/storyline just…doesn’t work and I was constantly wondering, Where is this going? And it’s just completely unbelievable and too simplistic/silly/convenient how everything wraps up. And so many plot lines that go nowhere. But it was a short and easy read that went fast (don’t remember exact day I started it) so 2 stars for that.

Lucky us a con artist who is abandoned by her boyfriend & forced to go on the run on her own. She ends up buying a winning lottery ticket but is unable to cash it in without the police finding her. The story is told in short chapters that alternate between two timelines. 

This was a super fast paced & quick read that captured my attention from the start. This book touches on family, independence, redemption, & personal growth. I found the end to be slightly rushed & vague, but it was overall a worthwhile read.

           Such a quick read, not just because it’s short, but you don’t want to put it down! I really enjoyed jumped back and forth in time, and eventually learning more about the mother and nun in the end was an unexpected surprise. 
Lucky has been lying and stealing since she was born, but she still turns out to be the one you’re rooting for, until the last page. I would love another book about Reyes!
