Lazybones
Someone - a woman or somebody pretending to be a woman - is writing to convicted rapists in prison, befriending them and then brutally killing them when they are released. DI Tom Thorne must discover the link between these killings and a murder/suicide that took place twenty-five years before ; a tragedy to which the only witnesses were two small children, now adults and nowhere to be found... How can you escape a past that will do a lot more than just catch up with you? And how can Thorne catch a killer, when he doesn't really care about the victims?

Lazybones by Mark Billingham Mark Billingham is one of the best modern crime writers and as always, this was a joy to read, full of twists. I never see the murderer coming. The characters Thorne and Hendricks are sublime!

It was quite slow read and I could easily sense what was coming up. Not sure why it got awards and all the rave reviews. I am quite a sucker for great protagonists in policy procedural. DI Tom Thorne failed to intrigue me enough to look for the next book in this series. An interesting plot of murder of rapists who just got out of the prison could have handled in much better way; and the suspense never reached a level where you are flipping the page to know what happens next.
