I was reading this somewhere in my early middle school life, and I was genuinely so affected by this. I realized how ruthless and cruel life is, especially when people differ in beliefs. I read this, along with "Mockingbird (Mock-ing-burd)" in 4 hours because I wanted to test how long I could sit still and just read. So I chose a book off of my sisters and brother's shelf. My brother said he really enjoyed this, so I read it, and I still think Abt it, years later. This is honestly such a great book, and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to read non-fiction books. I was genuinely so appealed by the straight out abuse of the main characters, because, again, I was 11/12 and didn't know anything about the world. This book is really emotional, and if you choose to read it (great choice), be prepared to cry.
